Sig p220?

Well I think I've found the gun I will be purchasing. (Still wish I could find a gun like this in a bit smaller cal.) Might consider the P226 also.




Any opinions on this gun experience?
It's the SIG match elite in stainless.
I really like the fact that it field strips like my 92F.
P226 has a shorter barrel but it comes in a smaller cal.

They make quite a few firearms, they also do a shorter gun in the P229 and you know about the P226 and its size. They offer those two guns in .40S&W, .357 Sig, and 9mm

Quick edit, I have a P229 in .40, I love it but would probably do it again in either 9mm or .357Sig

That would be a bonus if I could buy a .40 cal, or the .357 and convert it to a .22 LR for target practice.

 

Yeah I've looked at Springfield, but I want a gun that has DA/SA. Other then that they are good guns.

Yeah, I would agree. I've been looking at rounds, and Winchester makes some impressive rounds. The 9mm may actually have the stopping power if using the correct rounds.
And if not the .357 might be a good option.

I just want to know if all of those are interchangeable like in that youtube video? That would really seal the deal!

Yes, the 226 can be converted to a .22LR with the proper slide kit.
As for the P22O, it's a great .45 and you can get the .22 kit for it too.
You can get the P226's & 229's in .40 S&W or .357SIG then buy the other barrel (two for one) plus you can get a .22 kit to boot!

SIG's are fine hand guns, can't go wrong, but you can go broke...

I've had a P220 for nearly 10 years now and it's still my favorite. Haven't had any issues with it and it is extremely accurate (wish I could take all the credit) I would definetly reccomend it, in fact my dad bought one a few years ago because of my good experience.

I think my next gun will be a Springfield XDm .40 cal, but you can't go wrong with a Sig.

What ever caliber you decide on (personally I prefer 45 ACP) you could buy a Dillon press and load your own ammo. It is soooo much cheaper if you like to shoot. I have a Dillon RL550 press and could easily do 500 rounds in an hour. You choose the projectile and powder charge so its up to you to decide on the stopping power of the rounds you are loading. This is a photo of a press I am talking about with some options. If you can get free brass at a range (thats what I did) you can load box for 60% -70% cheaper than if you bought it at a retail store. There are cheaper reloaders out there as well as single stage, I tried them all and wasted alot of time and money, Dillon is the "shit" when it comes to reloading.

Agreed, I have had mine for a long time and before that my dad had it for a long time. It is an amazing firearm.

 

Both the 220 and 226 are supremely excellent guns. There is only one or two guns in the entire Sig line up that I personally don't care for (and even they aren't bad). You will never regret purchasing either.

The 220 is a bit bigger. Buy the one that fits your hand better. Hold the 220 in your hand by your side, close your eyes, and raise it up to your sight line, open your eyes. Repeat with the 226. A properly fitted gun will have you looking straight down the sights when you open your eyes.

Don't worry too much about caliber. 45's, 40's, 357 sig's, and 9's will all kill bad guys all day long. Once upon a time bigger was always better. With recent innovations in premium bullets and powders, the playing field is quite level.

 

I have the XD .40 it is a great addition if you already have the P220! I love both of mine the XD and SIG.
