My understanding is now you have 12 years from the CRC being applied. At least that's how I read the notice. I also could be totally wrong.

Jeez, first day driving a stick shift or what? :boink:
Jeez... I haven't owned a vehicle for longer than 7 years yet... I'm averaging 3-5 years with my vehicles, that usually puts me a little over 100k miles and about when I dump them. With the diesel, I'll evaluate at 100k miles since that's when the powertrain warranty is up. If I'm problem-free with the emissions crap up to that point, I'd like to keep it much longer. If the emissions system gives me problems, it'll be gone as soon as the warranty is up.

Too much car as a tooling mobile. I might as well just get a second Tacoma at that point.

Damn. Good thing you scored on $GME

I'm at 21k in about 13 months. Putting another 7k on in March for another road trip. I think I will end up getting to 300k before I have to worry about rust, I didn't expect to be driving it this much but I am now using it for way more adventures and shenanigans than I used to with the mazda, so. Oh well. Time to rack up the miles!

I think I'll definitely end up dumping the truck before then but it's fun to strive for

Double check. I could be wrong also but I believe it is 12 years from the date the vehicle was put in service but you must get the CRC applied in order for that 12 year warranty to be in effect.

Yeah, it's a very nebulous situation. I'll directly ask when I get my frame inspection in october and a fresh CRC

Sound logic, same reason I don't work on shit in the winter if it's anything like this.

Yes, 12 years from date the vehicle was first put into service..and not a day more

It could be different for your year but @TreeFortRichard and I both have 2010's and it's 12 years from first date of use. The CRC had a lower deadline but if done that got the 2nd inspect for the under 12 years.

THIS though I think there's a deadline to get the initial and CRC which is less..I want to say 9 years but you better double check b/c it has differed depending upon the year of your truck

Two amps is a non-starter. I had two amps in my STi and should have just consolidated to one. That Pioneer isn't bad. I'll keep my eyes on it when they go back in stock.

Which amp are you quoting? Your link is just all the Kenwood amps they have. The P-XR600 could be doable, but the XR901-5 is outside what I want to spend. I looked at the Clarion again and it requires (2) 8AWG wires. I will pull the firewall ultimately, but between the existing 8AWG, all my switch wiring and my CB, I'm already going through the firewall in two places from my Blue Sea Panel, so I'm trying to minimize having to fish again. Plus with 8AWG I could go right to my panel and use the existing fusing rather than having to go either off the battery directly or the hot pole on the panel and doing a fuseable link, but that looks like what I'm ultiately doing.

I wasn't sold on the Clarion specifically, but the wiring efficiency (connectors, not screw terminals) and size was appealing. I don't plan on going to the LOC route and would do high level inputs. I've already got a great breakout harness from a member here that will let me do whatever I want more or less from that standpoint. Something small that goes under the seat is ideal.

The KTP-445u would be ideal for my application if I kept the PWE-S8 which Alpine is selling now as a Tacoma package. I pulled the door wiring on my STi when I was more flexible and had a day to waste on a single project. I think it took me 5-6 hours to fish that wire correctly and a lot of cuts on my hands. It's not worth it to me for an incremental increase in sound. I had Polk dB components in the Subaru and loved them. Hindsight being 20/20 I might have done components if I knew I was going to amp the truck, but I've got basic co-axials, so it it what it is.

I'm one of about 4 people left that actually likes the stock Entune HU. I have no plans of swapping it out. I have a CarPlay HU in the Vette (AVH-4200NEX) and I don't love it and find it somewhat clunky, even compared to the old AVIC-D3 I had in the Subaru. The wiring would be easy with an aftermarket HU, but it's money I don't want to spend.
