I ran a full sheet sized CNC table for about 18 months. Did nesting, tool paths, design, machine troubleshooting, and repairs/ upgrades to the machine. I loved it and ended up designing the next table he wanted, but I only did the designs and BOM before I left. I kept being given more responsibilities and my employer wouldn't consider a raise.

I may have been designing a few parts for 2.5 gens over the last couple of years and need to have a few prototypes cut for testing...

 

Exactly. You just gotta be sure to do your research cuz theres definitely some things I’ve paid for i could have done better myself... and saved a bunch of money on.

I very very briefly considered making a PMF camper trailer. And I quickly decided that was not the thing to do.

I'm learning that there are some Tacoma accessory makers that have a few very *cough* high profit margin items I am planning on making myself. But mostly they're things like bed brackets, antenna mounts, stuff like that. Little instagram chotchkies ya' know?

Some of this stuff there is a ton of margin in. At the same time, not all things are created equal. There are definitely difference between a $500 tent and a $4000 tent.. or toppers.

I've been thinking of getting an 8x10 enclosed and putting a queen in it and a kitchenette off the back. Running a heat/ac off the roof and one of those road showers.

 

For sure. And I've slept in some awful tents. I lived out of one freaking great tent for over a month. I'm talking about those stupid bed accessories that are like two or three bends and one or two inches of weld. For $175.
