Nah definitely not the same lol My uncle has a Frontier and I feel its more comfy than our trucks. The body on the Frontier is taller if you really look at it which is why the seat comfort and foot space in the rear is a little better imo...many complain about the high floor/low roof and the low seating position in the Taco, but I think that's for ground clearance.

I wouldn't mind this new Frontier as an upgrade from my 05 DC, depending how well it does of course

This is why I gave up on Nissan.
I had a 1990 hardbody MT that rode like an old sofa on a wagon but was reliable as hell. Loved that truck.
Can’t get myself to do an AT... yet.

The dash design looks 5 years out of date... but that's just aesthetics. I'm glad Nissan improved the seats though. The seats in the 2nd gen Frontier were atrocious.

The A-pillar trim looks carried over from 2020. Wonder if it means a 2005-2017 driver's side grab handle could be retrofitted?

I just sold mine last October with 305,000 miles (bought new), original clutch, transmission, engine, diffs, etc. didn’t even replace the cam chain in all that time. I Would have been a repeat customer, even for the Frontier after the XTerra was discontinued, but no manual transmission and I was gone. Same mistake with the new Frontier and I love my TRD OR 6MT.

Can't imagine anyone claiming that ugliness is a Tacoma forefather.Maybe a Tacoma foreskin that was circumcised prior to release.

They said this truck is on the same chassis as the old one so it has the same wheel base. It probably means you could retrofit the new body panels onto the old one like I've seen some people do with 2nd gens and 3rd gen body panels. KBB said it is 5" longer though thanks to the grille.

In December, I was looking for a truck. My mind was pretty much set on a Frontier Pro4X. The main reason being, I have always liked the looks of the Xterra and Frontiers in their pro4x package. The day I bought the Taco, I had driven two Frontiers, a 2019 and a 2020. Both under 30k miles. Took the wife with me. I was surprised at how buckboardish the pro4x suspension was. Felt like the cheapest lift kit I once installed on my jeep, that made it ride like crap. The truck rattled like a cheap car, did not feel solid and more like it was built in a slave labor camp. The engine was like an on and off switch. Either really slow or launching you hard. It definitely felt like it had a lot of torque though. We then drove by a dealer that had two Tacos on their lot. I had no interest in buying a Taco but wanted to check one out for comparison purposes. I drove the one I ended up buying. What a difference. The feel of the Taco was that of a high quality, well built truck that was made like someone actually cared. The suspesnion felt like a fine tuned suspension I would pay money for and the premium leather interior was so much nicer that it would be hard to imagine these two trucks being in the same class. Taco for the win.

I said the above to preface my initial dislike for the new one. I don't care for the looks in pics. To me it looks like someone took a Chevy Colorado and an F150 and merged them. Having said that if the truck has internal improvements that is what really matters. I am more interested in the build quality, which I feel the last gen truck did not have. I can forgive a certain look if the quality is there.

In 2016 I was looking to get back to a midsize. No longer had a need for a full size pickup. I had a 2006 Tacoma that got totaled in 2009 that I really liked. Test drove the 3G Tacoma, the GM twins and the Nissan Frontier. GM/Chevy had little in stock and was selling what came in. Same with Toyota. Went and drove the Nissan. It reminded me of my 06 Tacoma.

I have had the Frontier Pro 4X since December 2016. No issues (except the radio head unit had to be replaced). Still like it. Yes, it does not have as tight of turning radius as the Tacoma, but coming from a RAM it turns fine.

As far as the new Frontier, the more I look, the more I like the looks. I will take a look when the dealerships get them in. It will be at least 4 more years before I would consider replacing my Frontier. Time will tell on the new direct injection engine.
