No for real. There's a 14b that's only 65" wms and 6-8 lug wheel converters for the front are 2" each side to make up the difference. You can build and shave it and at least get it started.

Shit even a regular 67" 14b would only an 1" more than the front each side with the converters.

Well shit.... Would my pumpkin mount to that?

Looking at the trail gear housing, doesn't look bad for the price. Pretty beef too

No but a 14b is cheap build or buy. I seen one with a Detroit and disk brakes for a 1k not long ago. Add gears for $500 and you're at the price of I diamond housing.

Buy a stock housing for cheap, swap your shit over, and bend it or crack it in a year or two when you decide what you want to do.

FZJ80 rear would be my vote. Insanely stout housing, FF, 9.5” R&P. Normally cheap to find in a junkyard too. Unless you’re wanting to go SD60 solid axle swap in a year. Then just get a stock housing as a placeholder replacement until you pick up the matching set of SD axles

I have a 14b collecting dust for the SAS that may never happen, but I also picked up a stock housing for $60 to tide me over. No point in going to something different if you're planning on switching things up.

Also, how to do you know the housing is bent? I've bent axle shafts and cracked a housing, but haven't bent one yet.

I wouldn't drop $$ into a fabricated housing using factory drum and wms. It's a waste of money and no really benefit beside the "I got a badass housing even though the internals are stock"

Factory housing, and a truss is you best bet then. I wouldn't know off the top of my head what a junkyard housing would cost, but I wouldn't imagine more than a few hundred. Here's also a very good truss that I like.

    https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/TOYTRUSS-BACK.html?

The 9.5" FJ80 FF axle is also a very good option as well. I'm not to big of a fan of the offset diff, but you can remedy that with a fabricated housing.

A ford 9inch is also another very popular option for the Tacoma. I don't know too much about them though.

Welding a truss to a factory housing will for sure warp it. It took me days to weld mine and it still had a tiny warp to it. Just get another stock one and swap it in or 14b and get 6 lug hubs which narrow it and run spacers up front or build a 9 in to like 65 wms and run spacers up front so you can build a front axle to match if you sas. If your a die hard Toyota guy to 9.5. 9 in has more support/easier to find parts at the parts store.

Yup. They told me if i try and add a truss to a stock housing, it will most likely warp. I think im going to go the cheapest route for now. Not really looking to drop alot of dough on something that will get replaced (hopefully sooner than later)
