I have been thinking about that too, but it might be more fun for me to focus on keep driving and camping on crown land, not having to deal with maintenance and pay taxes

I looked at that too, but the savings may not be there, and the thermic qualities are not great either.

Hmmm, learn something new every day...

So, if you are using one of the new smart keys out there (like on a Tacoma)

When you first program it to a vehicle, not only does the immobilizer learn the ID of the fob but the fob will also store the immobilizer ID in it's own memory!

Here is one place you can get some of the tools and keys etc https://www.mk3.com

    Lol holy crap...

"Manfred Goth plugged the BMW key fob into the Abrites decoder and almost instantly, it read out a significant amount of data, including the Vehicle Identification Number, mileage, fuel level, and last time driven. Newer keys are also storing GPS data.

So how is this all relevant? It turns out that many insurance claims are filed for stolen cars, and a lot of those are false. In Europe, the insurance carriers require the owner to produce their car keys for examination upon making a report. Virtually no one understands that the data contained in their keys can be used against them in a criminal prosecution for attempted insurance fraud, or a denial of claim. Case in point: the owner files a police report that his car was stolen three days ago. He turned over his keys to prove that they were not left in the vehicle or given to the thieves. What the driver did not know was that the memory in the key logs the last time the car was driven and the ending mileage. In this particular case, the information on the keys showed that the car had been driven the day before, which meant it had to be a false claim."

This post kind of sums up what I've figure out so far when it comes to re-using fobs on Toyota,

So it may be possible to do it with Techstream on the Tacoma as they are doing it on the Prious..

I just went through it over the summer. Gf is from burlington and im from waterloo average price for waterloo was $500 when we bought and there was nothing with a garage for less than 600
We didnt even attempt to look at anything east of waterloo

moved 45min west of waterloo and shits still crazy out here. You pretty much have to put an offer in on a house the day after its listed with no conditions to get anything.

oh cottage market is even worse right now. We have one on the bruce not far from lions head and stuff is selling way over priced and people aren't even looking at it, just buying.
I could only imagine what kind of warzone the market is in the muskokas right now

on a side note the snowmobile market is the exact same. Way overpriced and u have to buy same day or day after its listed

Yeah, the thing is, even with insulation, metal in tricky, it heats up more in the summer, and with the cold I think it's not great either. Spray foam helps...

For thermical energy I think the best is wood, and still cheap and easy to work with. I believe.

A few months ago I was thinking of buying land and do myself a shack in 2x6 covered in plywood and painted with a exterior paint. Not sure if it's the best either, but it would be easy to do it for me. I have a shed like that for 10 years, it's in top shape. My metal shed is falling apart.

You really have to move to places people are not looking yet, until recently you had innisfil, maybe Brantford.

About the houses is the same, I buy the ones no one finds exciting . Renovate them and in the end I save money and get the same end product.

For cottage stuff, it really looks like it's best to buy land and build a shack.

One thing you guys have to look on the positive side, when prices go up, what you have goes up, so you don't lose.

So you better have something. Otherwise, stick with renting, which at the point things are going, it may make sense for some people.
The other lesson is, don't try too much to time the market. That's like flipping a coin.

Yeah we were looking 10 minutes closer the year before but we weren't quite ready yet and in a year it went from affordable to completely stupid as well

If you go 10 minutes passed us its a completely different market

I partially agree. Yes, agents influence people, but I also see buyers putting bids they didn't plan at first, they don't stick With their budget, they get tired of losing on bids and then just want to buy something and win the battle no matter what, or because it's the "dream home".
What Happened in 2017 was not about agents alone, it was investors and buyers going nuts. That was absolute investors lunacy just because there was lack of stock.

Got my first set back from powder coating and one side installed. I'm happy with the results. Just wait for the molle accessories coming from China:)
