I'm sure most of these questions have been answered in some form or fashion on the forum but I'm counting on some useful input from a variety of experienced owners in one place. I have a 2020 SR5, front leveling kit and some slightly bigger tires 265/70 r16, a snup-top canopy and a rhino-rack kit w/towers and cross-bars on the way. My goal is to spend a night or three camping from the truck with as little 'exertion' as possible when I get there. I used to spend a week or more camping from my quad in the cascades throwing up a hammock. Thats no longer practical. I have Multiple Sclerosis with diminished physical capacities depending on the day. The ideal in my mind is to park and crawl in the back and sleep. I have a CPAP machine. Was planning on building a platform in the bed to sleep on. My concerns are a)water storage b)gas storage c) electrical to operate CPAP d) Some shade/shelter to sit and enjoy the day e)Being able to be self-sufficient. I'll be doing mostly forest roads etc, no heavy duty/technical rock crawling/mud-holing. A to B and back. Don't want to spend any more money that I have to but want to make it right the first time. Thank you in advance for any thoughts/ideas/contributions.

So, I guess I have some questions -

    - How much gas do you want to store?
    - How much power does the CPAP take? Does it run on a wall outlet or does it have a car adapter?

My initial thought would be to throw an awning on it and a swingout rear bumper that has room for gas cans and a small table for cooking, then put a sleeping platform inside the bed. Then maybe add a good size battery in the cab or behind a seat.

Prolly 5 gallons of gas with an equal amount of water. The CPAP is DC powered

Does it say how much the cpap consumes? That would be good to know for battery sizing

6.67 amps is what the xformer puts out. I'm assuming thats with the heated hose and humidifier which I would not be using in the truck, so maybe half that, but worst case scenario in 80 watts.

A swing out bumper sounds fantastic, had not heard of them.

My thoughts? Get a little Honda generator. They sip gas, are quiet and reliable and will give you much more power than you need. In summer it could power a fan and spring and fall power an electric heater along with your machine.

On the other hand, a 200 aH battery and a Dc-dc converter would be plenty for a cpap and would be pretty much set it and forget it.

I'm at a loss as to what a DC-DC converter is. Does it function like a transformer?

One dc voltage to a different dc voltage.

It would let you charge your cpap/house battery off the truck while you're driving while keeping the 2 power systems separate - so you can run down the cpap battery and still have the truck battery to start with.

    Something like this:
