I was rear ended, I have never loaded a photo on here, but if it works....I believe the buckled part is the frame?

Frame will have to be replaced Toyota only allows limited pulling to fix frame. If kinked it's trash

The insurance actually will pay to replace a frame? Or they just mark the truck as totaled?

Talk to your insurance adjuster. Every Insurance Company has limits and guidelines the adjuster follow. Every company is different.

Anything said here will be guesstimattion.

Since truck is new, it still has a high value. Also, it looks like you got rear-ended, so the monkey is on the other driver's back or their insurance. You may want to call your insurance to discuss with them. They may send their adjuster to make estimates.

Ugh, that sucks, frame replacement on a brand new truck.
You should be seeking reimbursement for a rental too, cause it's gonna be a while to tear down and rebuild.

It’s the crumple zone, it is made to do just that. If you go to the TOYOTA dealer, they’ll want to replace the frame. That may not be a good idea.
But If you take it a reputable body shop for a their opinion, they should be able to repair it good as new. And the insurance will stand behind the repair for the life of the vehicle, if you take it to an approved repair center.

I’ve seen worst, you’ll be just fine, like it never happened. These trucks are pretty resilient.

If it looks straight after that. Personally, I would lop off the ass end, cut out the bad and re connect the dots.
YES I know this is a purpose engineered area to crush in this event and I would not have that ability again before I would have a frame rep.
IF insurance totals it and you get something I would still buy it back and do the repair myself.

Just think some monkey removing EVERYTHING to put back on a new frame for that little bend...no thx.

Talk to your insurance company. You may need them to influence the other guys insurance company. Hope you got the insurance company of the guy who rear ended you.

If they rear ended you, its their fault.

The days of sectioning frames are pretty much over. I rather have a new frame vs. some sectioned in part considering with HSS it will never be as strong. If the OP intends to use that hitch it needs to be strong

I had a pressure washer on my cargo hitch that he smashed. He was probably texting and doing 30mph or faster

The classic flip flop smash...don’t forget to put in a supplemental claim for diminished value.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Didn't look that bad. turned out the frame was bent. Other guys insurance wanted to replace the frame. My insurance said total loss. I just got my new 21 Tacoma on Tuesday.
I would push for a new truck.
