What size/type tool do I need to remove that screw? I've tried tamper proof T9, T8, and T7 torx and I can't get anything to engage...

I used a very small flat blade screwdriver wedged in between the center part of the Torx and one of the "star" sections.

I attached pix of the screwdriver I used. It's a bit stubborn at first but it then "pops" and will back right out.

So I ordered the panel/cubby to replace my 20 no-cubby. Looked great in my hand but didn’t even fit my controller. So I returned the cubby panel and controller. Went with the Hopkins Insight

Thanks , comes in handy when working on the truck with the doors open, and when camping.

You’ll like the redarc. I run the same to pull my track car and trailer that comes in around 4800lbs. Does the job great, if you need to manually apply you push the button in and then turn the knob to apply more braking if needed. But it does a great job by itself.

Thanks for the tip ... it really saved my bacon!

Got my Meso custom panel installed, love it. No more bashing the brake controller with my knee!

    Looking good!!!!

Now you make me wish I had ordered the switch blanks on either side of the controller. :annoyed:

Do you have to cut these pieces of the dash out, to fit the panel back in? Don't see how to insert the panel, as the switches interfere...

    20210206_122939.jpg

Wish that was made clear before I purchased.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes you have to trim that plastic behind the dash. It does not affect the mounting at all and is required to add more switches(because we are adding than Toyota intended for)

I did have to trim those bits off to get the switches on either side of the brake controller to fit. No idea what those are for ... maybe mounting the cubby if equipped?

I had the entire trim piece off (not just the switch panel popped out) when I did the trimming, it was really easy.

I figure it was worth it to get everything mounted up!

I have the same controller. i haven't towed with it yet either but when camping season starts. It will get a workout.

Here is a page from the manual explaining the manual brake activation.
