    Thought the same.

Still, that’s aluminum.....2” square aluminum tube is stronger than the crumple zone evidently.

IMO, a "reputable shop" is going to follow Toyota TIS/CRIB procedures; whatever that might be.

That said, I believe Toyota allows, or allowed for cold straightening only on frames.

It all depends on who does the estimate at the dealer. I know for a fact some to be ignorant as to what part of the frame can/can-not be repaired.
A reputable certified and insurance approved body shop is going to follow approved repair procedures as recommended by the manufacturer. Key word being “ignorant”.

It won't be up to the body shop, if the adjuster says frame is trash, the frame is trash.

In the famous words of Eazy E

"I looked at my car and I said, "Oh brother
I throw it in the gutter and go buy another"

I never said it was totally up to the body shop. Depending on your state, insurance regulation and practice can widely differ.
Generally speaking, in some states the insurance adjuster and the approved repair shop work according to collision repair code standards and thus is not that hard to be in agreement.

The consumer may/may not have certain rights such as using oem or aftermarket parts, among other rights as well.

At any rate, it’s always best practice to get at least three different estimates from three different certified collision shops.

none at the moment, I saw him coming pretty fast in the rearview, so I had a quick second to "brace for impact".

It's more state/govt guidelines than insurance company, if the coverage is equal.

    How does leverage work?

I will follow up with what my insurance says, I will certainly be pushing for a new truck, I worked too hard and this is my first brand new vehicle. Sucks to own something for 2 weeks and have this happen. Shit happens right? I will update what insurance does.

Another reason I added a tailgate light bar . I feel the stock taillights are just not that bright . Best of luck with your truck hope all works out for you.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
A kink like that, if they straighten it, will never have the strength it use to. Most body shops would agree, the truck needs a new frame to be fixed right. Now with that being said, it will hurt the resale value, make sure you fight for diminished value compensation.
