Colors is the one I show everybody because they pretty much cover the entire metal genre seamlessly in their own way over the whole album. It's older, but definitely more psychedelic prog metal than their other albums.

    Sweet, I'll check it out

I tend more toward stoner and doom metal, but am open to trying about anything

    @Juisebocks @Sear87 @CygnusX191

I had been trying to keep this on the DL.........
I starting playing guitar about 13, taught myself I guess.
I was big into band, played every brass instrument they had in high school...
Had lots of medals, played electric bass for our jazz band.
Got recruited by a college prof, was set to get a big scholarship........
His wife got a dean job elsewhere, poof. He disappeared, and so did my scholarship.

I declined, took a job like everyone else. Played alot over years, was in a few bands here and there.
Sold my Gibsons a while back to pay taxes from the boys mother, and then maimed my left hand five years ago.

Anyway, stupid sob story aside. Guy with a half functional left index finger.......
I was approached by my siater for my nephew, who wanted to learn.
Im a shitty teacher, get him real lessons......she did.
My nephew is awesome, better than i ever was. But I guess kids don't
Play music anymore these days. So @Mrs2Fang and him convinced me to try again
with a maimed hand and remember how much I loved it.

We retubed my XXX, pulled my old bass cab up, and added an electric drum set.
Now my 9 year old is starting to play drums and my wife is learning bass with me.
Family band from the abyss. Music runs in my family and I let it go but
    they pulled me back in.

    Here is some current picks......

    The front jam room

My 335 and my nephews LP

My 5 string Jackson(22 years old) and my wife's new bass

Sorry for the long winded explanation, but this is "the project" I've been working on till the shop is done......

    That's badass!

I played percussion from fourth grade through early college. Still have my old drum set, but years of disuse means my skills are beyond rusty. Also tried teaching myself how to play bass I think three times now. Haven't stuck with it yet

Hell yeah. Music is something that grabs so many people in so many good ways. Glad you're getting back into it. Back where I lived in texas last time we had a local municipal band - basically a whole bunch of people that used to play in high school and were still playing decades later, led by an Army-band vet. I played with them and had an absolute blast playing big band jazz and patriotic stuff.

Never give it up - just take a break on occasion

I didn't really out myself, just finally posted it in this particular thread...

No reason for shame. You found what interests you and makes you happy. What's your nerd outlet?

Eh, it's not interesting to sing well and that's my thing. I don't even like to do it anymore, honestly. Formal training for 15 years doesn't mean much because everybody can sing lol.

    I think I don't have a thing. Oh... um ...:notsure::anonymous:

Also, no shame intended! I get hyped when I see people at the next level, it's exciting lol

    Hey, that's cool!

Kind of wish I hadn't stubbornly avoided vocal training when it was really available at school. I'd have at least some semblance of control

I did the school stuff too, I just had a private voice coach like most people have a soccer coach. Again, it's not useful cool pop singing. Disney songs seem to be the exception. I like to use them to embarrass my fiancé :humble:

If you want learn to sing now, I can connect you with some community choirs that would love to have you

    Still, it's interesting

I'm sure you could, though my desire to sing decently does not outweigh my dislike of large groups of people

Never said I couldn't, just that I was not great

I'll go out there, particularly with liquid encouragement. Any gathering with two particular friends of mine usually devolves into yelling the Righteous Brothers at each other

That's what I'm saying. Everybody can sing and they should. In fact, most people can sing well, they just get embarrassed and tense up. It's just that unlike instrumental music that takes obvious skill or stunning Lego epicness, most people don't distinguish between what I did and what Justin Timberlake or Rhianna do. Don't take that the wrong way, I'm not belittling classical vocalists, because we all work incredibly hard and are typically held to a standard that is often extreme.

Maybe I'm jaded a bit lol. I think the best singing is when tons of people are doing it together regardless of skill. It's a different window into our souls that is untainted by the clumsiness of an unfamiliar tool.

It won't surprise you that I'm a D&D nerd too and I love historical pub music from any era. It makes me think of the power that bards and troubadour's had.
