Hey TW, I know the frame issue and filling them full of a wax material is old news now but I am curious....I thought all 3rd gens were affected. I called the dealer and they ran my vin and told me I am one of the lucky ones. Nothing at this time.
Not sure if i feel lucky or unlucky lol.
    What is the deal?.?.

The dealer is just saying your not in one of the rust belt states...as all unprotected metal will rust without maintenance.

I’m also in BC with a 2017. If your frame has the black silicone between the two layers of C-Channel, you are ‘post-recall’ in Canada. The change happened mid model-year production for 2017s.

I got the letter, and went in and was told “no action required”. In my case they did fit the plastic shields that block off the front boxes cavities, but no goop or anything applied.

I will snap a photo later. They just put a black plastic shield that blocks off those two front cavities.

Just from what i've seen already on a friends 2019 and my 2020 taco's here in connecticut, toyota hasn't done much if anything to the frames for long term rust protection. If you don't do something about it yourself, don't say no-one warned you.

Yeah I’m from Poco and lived in the lower mainland the first 30 years of my life.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Stuff doesn’t rust here. Your Tacoma will be 40 years old and on its third engine before the frame fails.

    keep on truckin brother!

All my dealer did was install these plastic guards. Nothing else. No CRC goop. I even queried the manager on it. He said “no CRC compound required for your truck”.

In the lower photo you can see the gap between the two C-channels is already filled with a black sealant.

Give it some time, you may still be added. I was only recently given my notice for my 2017. (2018 and beyond haven't been added yet, btw). My VIN wasn't even included yet on my November service.

Yes. All it does is close off the front boxed section of the frame.
