Here are the spec weights from Toyota for the vehicles in question. 5' bed on double cabs

Hmm interesting. I know it won’t be much but I’ll take what I can get to help with rubbing. Weight wise up front I’m only running steel skid trio and sliders. Also on 33’s, I wasn’t too bad with 0 offset wheels but new ones are -6 and definite more noticeable. Maybe it’s the weight of the sport skewp

I'm thinking that if you get more than 2" of lift with the clip placement, besides compromising the front axle boot angles you risk the shock being near "topped out" condition where you don't have any down travel. I can't think of any other issues besides these two for Bilstein to limit the clip position for a lighter weight Tacoma.

Slightly off topic of the current discussion, but does anyone have a line on 6112/5160 kits in stock? I'm ready to pull the trigger but they seem OOS just about everywhere. Same with Deaver Stage 2 leaf springs.

Unfortunately, this is an ongoing question. This is due to a number of reasons. 1. They are highly in demand. 2. The aspect of the state of the world right now, Bilstein is running at a lower capacity due to materials, production, shipping etc. My best advice is to call around, get on waitlists, and be as patient as you can. I have had mine on my truck since 2018 and I was on 23 different waitlists for 6 months before my number came up.

    That is reassuring... :bananadance:

Thanks for the info, will start calling around. In the mean time if I can't find them, I might go to work on my rear suspension if I can find the 5160s and Deaver Stage II Expedition leaf packs. Any thoughts on doing rear suspension while leaving stock front? I'm picking up a GFC in the next month and just want to ensure the rear is sorted out to support the constant load, plus if I do a small bed buildout here shortly. 6112's I can wait for most likely, but not if the ride quality is going to be trash.

You can add the 5160's but I would wait on the deavers. if you are not doing anything to the front, you will be very "rear end" high.

That's what I was trying to avoid. Who knows, the V2 GFC is supposed to be very lightweight now so it might not make a ton of difference in the short term anyways.

"Short term" might be a relative term here though. Like I said, I waited 6 months back in 2018......I can't even imagine how long people are waiting now.

I just spoke to them on the phone and they told me 6112's are backordered, so they may just be filling backorders now but not available as off the shelf option?

Bought the 6112 for my 1st gen Tacoma. V6 extra cab 4x4. Stock bumper and skids. I want to install them this weekend. Read that OME suggests their 590lb springs with 200+ lbs. of extra weight. I am going to be installing the All Pro baja style bumper and skids in the future. They are about 120 lbs. I am wondering, ride wise, if i should wait to install the 6112, until I get the bumper and skids installed, or it will be fine installing them, now.

Been running Bilstein 6112/5160 setup for a year now and I can say these are the best bang for buck setups I had. I have had other brands of shocks on my old 2nd gen toyota that have blown within 1 year. Yes it was excessive use, but these have been beat to hell with no issues. Only con I would say is the 5160 don't offer much droop which I plan on rectifying with a new setup.

6112 are currently set to the highest notch with upgraded 650LB springs to compensate for Steel bumper, winch, and sliders.

Got my 6112/5160 from wheelers about a month ago (got lucky they had like 3 in stock) set @ 5/6. For the back did headstrong 3 leaf 1.5 inch AAL + 0.5 flat shim with overload out (I kept an axle shim that was there from factory). 255/85 cooper st maxx. Stock UCA and no ECGS bushing for now - will probably do both in the next few months. Got about 2 inch front and back with 1 inch rake (it looks nose high in the pic but it's not).

First time ever messing with suspension and it took me about 18hrs in my driveway including getting tools out/jacking up truck etc. Everything was fairly straightforward after watching some videos and taking notes....but ran into issues that I spent a lot of the time on: sway bar end link wouldn't line up (had to disconnect the other side), broke a cheap Amazon breaker bar had to run to the store, then the back shocks both sides top nut wouldn't come out without the whole shock spinning tried a whole bunch of crap then said fuck it after maybe spending 3hrs on it and a week of pb blasting and cut both out (the design on the stock back shocks really sucks ass I don't know how anyone is able to get them out without cutting).

You paid $562 for all four......ok, that I don't believe. I bought mine in the beginning of 2018 and I paid $682 for the 6112's and $450 for the 5160's. Add 2 years for inflation and a small amount for supply and demand......that is actually not a bad price.

I was pleased with $562 at the time. For $1400 I would be going FOX or KING and spending the extra dough. Which I will be doing in a couple more years when these are shot.

    $562 for 6112s and 5160s??

I would say this set up is priced pretty darn fairly in the market against the competition. You are paying quite a bit more for Fox/King/ADS when stepping up and moving to their remote reservoir offerings. May as well also spend the extra money on the adjustors if your doing that. Your investment is quite a bit higher than $1300 at that point. Well beyond really. I actually highly considered Fox set up from Accutune but at the end of the day would be overkill for me. Got my 6112/5160s from Wheelers for $995 during their BF sale.

Check out this Thread around Feb 2018, we were getting the TRD Pro 2nd gen setup front and back for under $600.
