Just a heads up, I got my replacement harness from RSI today and it plugged and played just fine. No idea why the original harness and the splicing both failed. There must have been a problem with the cap end of the harness.

Got my new EVO cap installed yesterday. Noticed a few things: 1) the wiring harness supplied by RSi did not work on my tail light. The installer finally spliced two of the wires into the brake light wires and all was well. and 2) the new "Smartcap" logo on the side & rear windows are now just stick on vinyl letters. Took me maybe 15 minutes to scrape them all off and clean bit of glue off the window frames with mineral spirits. 3) the rear view through the inside rear view mirror is greatly reduced, but I can still see a vehicle that is right behind me. I'll be using the side mirrors much more now.

Absolutely exquisite luxury. The pinnacle of cap design.

Not that it’s your problem to deal with, at all, but I wonder if it would be difficult to switch those 2 vs waiting for a replacement.

Yea ended up cutting the connectors off and reconnecting them with male and female. The third brake light did work but then had issues with the tail light lighting up. At the end of it just gave up on the harness and just tapped the brake light and grounded it to the body.

From what I remember of RSI’s website, the US office is outside Carson City, not at all far from you @OZ TRD I just looked it up, they’re in Dayton, NV. But that may be operated out of a home. Anyway, the RSI site shows dealers in Sac and in fact all over Northern California. Don’t know if they stock them ...

It's the going price for any and all the SA or Australian imported toppers. Alucab, RLD, Camp King, RSI all fall within the same budget range. These things are much more heavy duty and useful than your typical fiberglass snugtop, leer topper.

I really like this topper. Just can’t justify the expense really. Curious how it would stand up to Canadian and Alaska winters with no leaks (around the gaskets) I know it is not perfect seal on the bed. But leaks from the top are not something I would not be interested in.
Also can the emblems be removed. You pay a lot for free advertising’s

    I do want one!

Just got my RSI Smartcap Evo Adventure yesterday and realized the harness was wired backwards so cut it off and swapped them, they work fine now. More pics of Smart Cap plus Front Runner rack.

The Front Runner FASS012 Footset does not fit the RSI track out of the box, Had to find some bolts that fit the RSI track and bolted Front Runner footset using that.

Looks great! I just put my load bars on last week, thanks again to @OffroadAlliance.com for facilitating RMA to get the missing footpack from RSI. Also it came in 3 days from South Africa, so noice.

The RSI rack looks almost identical to the front runner one. What dimensions did you get from Front runner? Since I already have the RSI feet, and I think they both use m8 bolts for everything I should be able to just plop it on in place of the bars yeah? Trying to keep it as low as possible but it looks like there is going to be a decent gap no matter what. The gap between the cap and the bars, + my RTT is a softshell and has the mounting rails which adds another inch or so.

    I got the, 1 x RRSTA07 - Slimline II Tray - 1165mm(W) X 1358mm(L) - by Front Runner

Probably could of gone a little wider, didnt want doors to hit. but it doesnt look too bad.

Looks like you are pretty close to the limit. Based on my load bars, 45.5", I'm guessing the max would be around 48" or 1220mm. Of course then you couldn't have anything hanging over the side.

Yeah, the tracks are kind of funny. The rails in the cap take square M8 weld nuts. The channel in the RSI load bars are very narrow (they supply a M8 hex nut wit the top of the head machined down), but I found that 5/16” cap screws fit. I mounted some stainless eye nuts up there as a stop and hook point for tying down my ladders.

That is beautiful! Mine is on the way. Would you mind measuring from the decked up to the topper on either side (narrowest point of the top)? I want a Dometic fridge and want to make sure it won't be too high.

From the top of the decked to the top opening of the RSI is ~22"

It’s a Milwaukee M18 Rover. Since I installed it the evening prior I haven’t had time figure out a permanent lighting situation and to run electrical back there. The Rovers are super bright and have a magnetic base so I just slapped one up there. Eventually I’m going to do an LED strips at the front, back and in each door.
