Went to go test the PPS today. I only shot two mags through it to check basic function. I can find 9mm anywhere locally and I wont pay the absurd prices online so I can't justify more testing right now. It did well with what little I had to put through it. I usually go shooting on BLM land and I have to say it sickens me how little people seems to care about taking care of them. There was trash everywhere and even used needles in a plastic bag I picked up when I was trying to pick up some trash on my way out. Not sure what to do about that. Also I need to work on my marksmanship with pistols. I suck at shooting even large 9mm handguns. Anyone have any good tips on dry fire exercises? I have also seen this this https://mantisx.com/
but I don't know if its just a gimmick or not.

Yeah, if you're waiting until now to stock up, you're a little late to the game. I'm constantly on the lookout for friends that didn't heed advice when all this shit first kicked off. Now they just have to pay the prices that the market demands, which is really, really expensive. Or if I see something halfway decent somewhere, I let them know.

Okay so long reply...take it for what it is worth. I have used this process to teach all my kids how to safely and effectively handle a semiautomatic pistol. Proudest moment was when my oldest son won his marksmanship medal while in basic training for the Air Force. Keep in mind there are almost as many opinions on this topic as individual gun owners. But there are some basic principles that you could work on while dry firing. I use snap caps during most of my muscle memory training. While these don’t provide feedback for bullet placement, they do allow for the safe operation of the gun as I practice certain routines. Of all the basic principles...hand placement and grip are perhaps the most important. Here is a great article explaining the dynamics of a proper grip for a semiautomatic pistol. (Revolvers require a slightly different grip). https://www.handgunsmag.com/editorial/tactics_training_combatg_100306/138866

I will practice drawing from my various holsters. Which requires different drills. From my external I practice gripping and drawing to the shooting position. I use the Isosceles Stance https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isosceles_Stance
When my gun reaches the shooting position my trigger finger rests forward parallel along the frame of the gun, my body is in proper stance and my dominant eye is in line with the sights. I do this over and over until it becomes a natural routine. I have worked long enough to build muscle memory.

If drawing from a concealed holster I practice sweeping the outer layer of clothing, gripping, and drawing. I do this over and over until it is routine. Again I’m building muscle memory. If in a concealed in a tucked position, then I practice the movement of pulling up the shirt with one hand while sweeping and gripping with the other. Again over and over. These drills require no squeeze of the trigger which is secondary to the task.

When practicing the shooting process I use snap caps, laser cartridges, and of course live ammo.

The snap caps are used to extend the drawing from holster routines. This is where I move from ready position to fire position. Here I work on my finger placement. Not too little, not too much as both will affect accuracy. Once pad naturally goes to the middle I then practice drawing the trigger straight back being careful not to push, pull, jerk, under or over squeeze. While working on this I am also working on my grip and maintaining a proper sight line. Remember you are building muscle memory.
    Laser cartridges...I use these:
    https://www.laserhit.com/products/lasercartridge
These help me maintain sighting, proper grip, and trigger operation. I use the HD they had some pros over the generic ones that I liked. They save on ammo but keep in mind that they don’t help with the reacquisition of the gun after recoiling.

At the range I work hours with minimal ammo. I load 3 rounds at a time and shoot at various distances all within the legal shooting distances. If it’s been a while since I’ve fired the pistol, I print these up in color and put an orange dot in the middle.
    E3B4CD35-5468-449E-8887-75297D1FC08D.jpg
These are great tools to help you adjust your grip and trigger pull.

Eventually I will move to a paper target and place an orange dot in the middle. I then play a 3 round and out carnival game to shoot out the orange dot. I do this over and over trying to use less ammo each time and making the necessary adjustments for grip and accuracy along the way. Sometimes I will do this with a friend, but usually I am shooting alone. I can make 50 rounds last well over an hour. Here is the end result of one of my visits to the range. The orange sticker was placed between the 7 and 8 ring.
    8D88044D-371E-4F43-BCA7-D1A0C087C73A.jpg
I also use torso targets and work 2 to the chest one to the head. I do this over and over as well.

Sorry for the length of the response. Again just my thoughts and routines. Good luck...stay safe.

Has anyone shipped ammo using UPS? I was told there is a form that has to be typed, not handwritten, but the 3 people I talked to couldn’t tell me where to get the electronic copy.

    United Parcel Service (UPS):

    1. Pack ammo within a sturdy cardboard box, gross weight limit of 66 pounds.
    2. Print ORM-D label, cut out and tape to a least one side of box.
    3. Take package to a UPS Customer Center only - NOT at Drop-Off Box, The UPS Store, Mail Boxes etc., Sonic. Might be a good idea to have the UPS Hazardous Material Support Center number with you -- 800-554-9964. Varied success with UPS pick-up at your location.

    Per UPS:
UPS accepts domestic ground shipments of ammunition that have been classified by the shipper as "Cartridges, small arms", "ORM-D" (Other Regulated Material). The package must be properly marked according to the requirements of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR). Contact the Hazardous Material Support Center at 800-554-9964 for details on regulatory information.
