the problem with attempting to turn a hobby you do for fun, into a career is in the details; to be competitive you actually have to work much harder and sacrifice much more than you would if you were just riding for fun, which then turns your hobby into an actual job, and it's no longer fun. it becomes work, you HAVE to ride every day, you HAVE to train on days you don't ride. this happens to many elite athletes in all sorts of different sports that were once hobbies, but then later became jobs to support them and their families.

hahah, I didn't but their sign has been hung up saying it's too wet to ride. I saw it after I was done riding, of course ;)

We should get together and ride. I'm down to ride either of those places.

In my experience with Sram Guide R, no. Your experience may vary. All of my bikes have been switched to Shimano but plenty of folks love Sram so don't take that as gospel

This reminded me of that point. I ended up digging through my bleed blocks and found one slightly narrower and have been happier with the lever pull after that. It's a balance getting a good lever pull without getting the pad clearance too tight and ending up with rubbing.

Anybody know of a solution to mount bikes outside the bed rails on a Tacoma? Apparently KB Voodoo use to offer the perfect solution years ago but stopped making them.

Leaving in April for a 16 day road trip out west and can’t decide on how to mount our bikes. Have Front Runner roof and bed racks but there’s an iKamper on the back. No way the roof will work because of low hanging trees on trails and a hitch rack scares me because of possible trail damage as well.

    This and that...
Plan is to let this cure and ride tomorrow. Went with RideWrap. Never did this to my previous bikes but after seeing my previous ones get pretty dinged up riding these mountains figure I’d give it a shot. In hind sight I would have considered paying someone to handle applying all 28 pieces. Probably still would have saved my money but damn, it was about a 4hr job. If you’re OCD when it comes to you phone screen protectors, pay someone. When your beer tastes better than usual, it’s a sign. All and all, very pleased with the matte finish on glossy and over all quality of the product. Thought about going thicker to provide more protection on impacts but last bike was fine and although I bent and has to place my rear triangle, thick tape would not have prevented that from happening. Plus it was a aluminum Transition frame. Forgive the rest of the table, staging area for a camper build.

Do you need the syringe if you’re not adding any brake fluid? Can you just take out the air bubble without using one?

Folks, I’m heading to St. George, Utah next weekend. Do any of you have favorite trails you’d recommend for someone unfamiliar with the area? My partner and I ride all-mountain bikes with dropper posts. I think we’d be fine on black-diamond trails.

We will have a Polaris RZR too, so recommendations for cool places to drive that thing would be appreciated.

Been there done that. I’m not OCD and it took me 4 hours for 22 pieces. It also took me a couple of rides with breaks trail side to pop all the bubbles. Bring a needle with you because there will be some you missed seeing from initial installation.

Both Zen and Barrel Roll are good trails in the St George area. When we go down to that area, we tend to camp and ride the mesas around Hurricane. Little creek mesa, holy guacamole, gooseberry mesa, and wire mesa are all good options with techy blues and blacks. The Jem trail system is more of a flow trail area that is way less technical. If you want to get crazy, Grafton DH and Flying Monkey are serious downhill trails, though they are definitely double blacks.

Nice! I just did my 4th one last week. It gets easier, you learn tricks to make it go on better and easier. If you still have water bubbles, let them work their way out on their own, don’t pop em. Keep an eye on any bubbles, and just press them with your finger as the solvent evaporates. If you have large bubbles, like the size of a fingernail or bigger, you can use a medical syringe to pop it and press it.
The protection is outstanding, and I’m always surprised how good it actually works. It’s saved my bikes from countless nasty scrapes/scratches.

Above post hit it on the head. If you only have time for a day or two, the JEM trail is just a fun way to spend some time, and ZEN/Barrel are good to do quick loops. Barrel has plenty of optional drops and jumps to keep you entertained also. Gooseberry is a fun XCish slick rock adventure.

Took a break from the PNW to do some riding in the Arizona. Tried to convince the girlfriend she needed a Yeti but the Juliana won....
