I've read that some companies sell the preassembled pumpkins, and you can save on install, but does this save money and/or time in the end? Are you also advising doing the ECGS Clamshell bushing at the same time as the regear, can you please clarify?

Yeah sounds like you are going to be running bigger tires / lift... if so the bushing is usually advised and is easy to do so when regearing.

Your question regarding saving time / money would depend on if you are willing /able to install the assembled units yourself or if you are paying someone to do it. When I went through the process I found ECGS with the core exchange and installing myself was WELL worth the effort in terms of cost.

No harm in calling Reno driveline and asking them for a quote, they will probably be able to give you one over the phone. They will most likely use your existing 3rd / clamshell so no dealing with core exchange, on the other hand depending on how busy they are it may be a while before they can get you in. ECGS is pretty on top of it in terms of turn around times.

I have the Bilstein 6112/5160 with OME Dakars and diff drop on order thru 4WP. Planning on the 2" lift. After this install, i'm going with 33s, thus the need/desire for more torque. I'm sensing that vibes shouldn't be an issue at 2", and with the diff drop. Per one of the guys that helped start Total Chaos, his feeling is that unless you're going long travel aka the magical 3" mark that aftermarket UCA's offer minimal advantage, but sure do look cool;) Got to respect that advise. Trying to keep the build lean, so no UCAs, no Clamshell at this point. From all my research, the cost over the rewards just doesn't seem worth the dough. We will see once the install is complete. Preying for reasonable alignment, and only good vibes!

Just got a quote from Driveline, and excorcist you know their program pretty well. With the clamshell bushing included/recommended, I'm looking at $3,476. Ugh. Gotta start saving, anyone else have any ideas?

Is that using ECGS for the 3rd and clamshell, and them doing the install?

I do believe, and they said that they could get me in for service about a week or so out. The parts and labor pricing seem fair, as its gotta be a solid amount of work from all the YouTubing I've checked out.

Nates Precision will do regears as well. We've had 2 done by them on our rigs. Usually around $1000 in parts(gears, install kits) and $1250 or so in labor for the regear job.

As for the CMC that was asked about earlier, we're not currently taking them on unless part of a bumper/accessory install. They're a simple job but we're focused on more production work volume building our bumpers than being set up for small quick work like CMC's. We sell a lot of the CMC plates to customers and Nates will take on the install side for us, I think he charges about 2 hrs shop time for the job.

I spoke with Tricia earlier over at Nate's. Waiting for her to get back to me on the regear. I'll hit you up for some plates for the CMC. You have them for $20?

Yep we do, feel free to order right off the site and a local (anywhere in NV) address for the 'ship to' location will populate a pick up option. We'll call to let you know when/coordinate pick up of them to save on any shipping costs.

@RelentlessFab, think welding in the cmc plates is something someone with limited welding experience can tackle with an angle grinder and mig? It's not structural, right?

@Tour991, things seem to be picking up on the mountain. Today was the busiest non-holiday weekday I've seen this season and last Sunday was pretty packed. Lifting the stay at home really opened the floodgates.

The snow in solitude was, interesting, but at least it was quiet over there.

Yeah packed at Heavenly today ! Stagecoach lodge was full at 9.02 when I got there and the overflow lot was full also! Had to back track to Boulder Lodge to park and ride those slow chairs up the mountain. Skied over to the Cali side and it was packed also.

Does your welding look like birdshit or boogers? Do you make caterpillars?

Can you weld vertically and slightly upside down?

If you can mostly weld then its not a big deal. If you can’t weld for shit then Id let someone else do the welding.

Yeah it was a shit show yesterday. We only sold 650 day tickets. The rest was season pass and ski school packages. People still trying to get day of walk up tickets and we were turning them away. I'm jealous I haven't got back in solitude yet this season. To much office work for me. I did get some early ups last week to do some marketing photos.

2” lift 3” lift - close enough you’ll probably have a hard time getting back to 0* camber and proper caster - thus the UCAs. It may not matter to you though. You can always add UCAs later, just out $100 for another alignment.

As for gearing, is your truck a 4cyl?

Hopefully it'll quite back down after the next 2 weeks...at least for mid-week.

Ill be going to school in Reno in the fall. For those of you mountain bikers, what kind of bikes are yall riding? Short travel 130 trail bikes, 150/160 enduro bikes? My bike is on the fence of major overhaul needed and I might just limp it along and get a new bike at a shop out there so I have the service side from a shop. I'm on a 150/140 trail bike with 27.5 wheels and it's average for the super rocky tech here in phoenix and in Sedona. Im thinking of going to a 150/160 rear travel 29er so when I'm going to NorthStar or long weekends to mammoth bike park I won't feel under biked. However, if the majority of trails that are actually in Reno/Tahoe area are flow trails. I may go for a 130/140 rear travel 29er. Just picking your minds on what you ride and what type of trails are around. Personally I'm big on the point it downhill and go as fast as can be. Any input helps.
