Looking for some input on skid plates. I recently purchased a Mobtown front steel skid and picking up a transmission steel skid this week. What’s everybody’s input. Should one go with steel or aluminum and the pros and cons for both. Other than the weight difference between the two.

Hi Jim. You're not too far off. This new lifestyle is nearly too much for this old man. Luckily NVR20LD is my motto.

Between the pup and all the incidentals that seem to constantly pop up life is anything but boring.

For instance, last weekend on the way home from running errands and food shopping, I get about 5 miles from home and the CEL starts flashing and I loose power, and had to limp home. I made it but damn. I've been so busy though I haven't had time to check for the codes. Or call the dealership to take it in. Later that night when I took the pup out for her walk I started it up and besides smelling rich it ran fine. No light. The next day I started it up and let it run for a while and it was fine.

Snow removal has been less than fun. But it's mandatory because if I don't the neurotic neighbor in the back will take it upon himself to use his skid steer and that destroys the asphalt. I'd give my left nut for a non-shared common driveway.

Today I get to replace a tub spout (which should be simple) and fix my garage door. One of the extension springs broke. In the process it split the 2x4 in the finished ceiling that the spring attaches to so I need to fix that too somehow.

Ok so today turned into tomorrow and the tub spout replacement was successful yesterday and I was able to get the 2x4 for the garage door satisfactorily repaired, so I'm going down there now that it stopped snowing and finish that up. That is, as soon as my two girls get done napping. Today was shower day for younger one (I'll bathe the other one later) and it's a pretty stressful situation so naps were in order for them.

@RobP62 Dogs do take alot of work but bring so much enjoyment to life. I had to put Moose down in June of last year. Don't bring it up much because it stills hurts. Can't bring myself to get a new dog yet maybe when i retire.

Wow! A trifecta! Welcome to Maryland :hattip: Mike! If you don't know what steamed crabs or crab cakes are, or have never had them, make that a priority. Welcome to the forum :hattip:! 4Runners are cool AF! Finally, welcome to the Kool Kidz thread :hattip:! There's nearly as many present and past 4R owners in here so you'll fit right in.

You know, we struggled so much making this life changing decision knowing that sad day would inevitably come. We're both especially sensitive types too so it made it harder.

However, when we think how horrible her life must have been before she was rescued and then adopted by two dog fanatics like us, and now to see her play, or just the fulfillment of pleasing us, or one of my favorites, how she forces me to squeeze into the corner of my seat on the couch because she needs more room so I can rub her belly, for those moments, it makes me forget that sad day will come.

    Her head on my leg........
