    TBH, I hope the new Frontier does well here. I feel like Toyota half-assed the design of the 3rd gen Tacoma and some competition may force Toyota to step up their game instead of just relying on the reputation of past model Tacos.

    Don't get me wrong, the Taco is the best choice out of the mid-size trucks on the market, but I still to this day cannot figure out why "Seatbelt Mike" put the 2GR-FKS minivan motor in this truck, especially when they could have just dropped the 270hp 4Runner motor in this rig and have called it a day. It's not like the old 4.0 motor wasn't already being made in Mexico & Texico for the 2nd gens.

    Yeah, yeah, gas mileage and such, but still, I think alot of folks see the 3rd Gen w/ the 2GR as being a cost-savings measure. I'm kinda hoping some competition from other vehicle companies force them to bring back the old Hino team and dump seatbelt Mike's approach to designing a truck. Or just bring the damn Hilux to the US and call it a day.

    When did the 270hp 4l motor come available, because in 2016 it was 236hp and underpowered.

    I am sure the higher torque of the new 4l would be a big advantage.

    I looked up Fast lane truck towing times up the gauntlet and was kinda surprise at the results. This was one of the places I thought the gen 3 Taco would come in last place. I wonder what it would do with the new 4l 270bhp engine. Still the 3.5l wiped the floor with the others including the old 4l.

    There isn't much NOT to like about the new Nissan Frontier other than the Nissan badging itself. New exterior, new interior, new powertrain with at least one year of proven performance, and good specs otherwise. I think when people start arguing about nuts, bolts, axles they're just starting to nitpick for the sake of it. The new Frontier seems like a good solid truck that didn't try to overdue it or underdue it and I'm glad they went with a NA V6 rather than turbo 4. If they can undercut the competition by a few thousands then I think they have winner on their hands and with Nissan struggling as a whole I think the buyer has the advantage at the negotiation table. I don't think they need to beat anyone to be a winner in this round, if they can keep moving 80-100k units a year that's a win in what is now a 4 horse race, 5 if you count the Gladiator as a mid size.

    Best vehicle on the Planet and I’ll be back. Edit: KC 2wd. I think I might go with an automatic transmission this time but stay a member here so I’ll still have something to complain about. :p

    I think those times were pulling the max rated amount. So 5600 for the tacoma while 6700? For colorado? I’d love to look it up but the tfltruck website gives me a headache.

    My understanding has always been that the different categories pull the same amount. Like the big 3500's all pull the same half track and concrete blocks etc. It really would be stupid if they had different payloads. The new Ranger has a 7500 tow capacity, so they are all different. I think the ridgeline can tow 200 lbs:D

    Not the case the spider gears if i recall. I heard no issues with titan front axle at all, no one has ever broke one (on a frontier).

    Yea tacoma front is 8 inch which is between a dana 30(7.25-7.5) and 44 (8.5-9) both are weak imo. I would prefer atleast an 8.5 frot/rear in a truck. We will see what the new frontier comes out with.

    Also I never said the frontier was better just heavily underrated

    Specific second gen years (10’-15’) reliability ratings blow away third gen especially 16’s and 17’s. Guess they didn’t improve everything :rofl:

    I agree.....the Frontier wasnt that uncompetitive until 15/16. Before that it was ok.

    oh really, lol. I just picked two random years from both periods.

    "According to J.D. Power, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma has a reliability score of 4.5 out of five. That's a very good"

    "The 2014 Tacoma receives a reliability score of three out of five from J.D. Power and Associates, which is about average."

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I know the release was about the redesign itself, but it occurred to me that the new Frontier still does not have heated seats, nor a locking rear diff/limited slip diff on the Pro4X. Not that I saw anyway. Limited slip may be possible, but I didn't see either of the other options at all.
