So yesterday was my 19th birthday, I went to my moms house for a birthday dinner. I left my moms house on my way back to my dads when i was coming up to a 4 way stop light. The light turned yellow as i was going west so i hammered down to make the light. As a car was coming from the south stopped at the redlight for 2 seconds and continued to blow the red light and hit the front left side of my truck. I noticed after the hit i could not steer, The front left wheel was straight but the front right wheel was cocked all the way to the right.

I will be uploading pics shortly when i go see the truck.

Well we werent going that fast to begin with. The tire took the most impact and parts of the door. If u look at it from a distance it doesnt look bad.. Im thinking the frame could have possibly been torqued or bent. What do you think they would do? truck has 128k good condition, U think they would fix it or buy back?

Sorry to hear about your truck. Never a good thing.

"Hammered it to get through a yellow light?" Wow! Maybe revisiting the state driver's manual and the rules of the road is in order? Might have saved your truck....even if the other guy was wrong.

That makes sense, then. If you are unable to safely stop when the light turns yellow, then proceed through it. I understand now. I took your post to say that you'd gunned it to get through before it went red.

I really am sorry about your truck. Never had it happen to me, but I've come close a few times. Did the police place any blame?

    Hows it going Derek ?

Well maybe ya coulda held up on the yellow & maybe not, thats not the point, if its as you say (& have no reason to think otherwise) the other guy violated your right of way, even if you were a little over the speed limit (within reason).....;)

Yeah im 19 now with 1 wreck, not caused by me.. I would say im a pretty cautious driver at times.. But who knows what he was thinking.. I just hope they can fix the damages and i can have my truck back.. I dont want them to buy back, its not worth enough to get another one like it, moneys tight also

I hit a tree once. Offroading and was in some ruts that launched me into a tree. My front right tire took the whole hit. It looked like your truck looks now. Unless your truck is worth less than 3k, there's no way they wont fix it. It being a tacoma with 128k, it's worth at least 8k. Don't worry to much man, It's probably a bent or snapped tie rod. If you get quoted for more than 3k (depending on the problems of course) find somewhere else! Remember you have the right to choose the shop that fixes your truck. Also, let us know what the mech says needs fixin and we could probably let you kno if you're over paying.

I'm glad to see you and your girlfriend are ok. After all is said and done, your lives are the most important of all.

Good luck with it bud. Happy Birthday

Thanks for the reply I appreciate the time and everyones responses. Im just hoping its the tie rods, and not the frame. If its the frame i can kiss it goodbye

When lights turn yellow as you approach the crosswalk on any road with speed limit above school zone speed of 20 mph.........

    1) I'm not slammin on the brakes and having someone behind me hit me.

    2) Not gonna try to stop and end up stopped in the intersection so you can for sure get T-boned.

    3) Will let the cop and lawyer argue in court if not speeding and cop thinks I had time to stop in the middle of the intersection just so he could hand out a different ticket.

I also refuse to flip and wreck my truck trying to avoid any animal wandering into the roadway when not safe to go around...for people, I'd have to give it a shot.
