Took the easy road and did a ham today.

Simple recipe. Wife loves it.

1 med onion, diced small
2-3 large potatoes, 3/4” cubes
In the pot, medium high heat, put potato and 1/2 stick butter, salt, pepper, garlic, and a few sprigs thyme, add onions after a few minutes. When onions are clear, cover with water and simmer 10-15 minutes until potatoes are tender.

Chop ham 3/4” cubes, about 2-3 cups worth, throw in the pot after potatoes are tender.

Mix 1-2 TBSP flower with 1/2 cup milk, stir, throw it in the pot.

Add milk to as thick or thin as you’d like. I normally match the amount of water that was put in.

Stir and simmer until hot. Serve with some shredded cheddar.

i sometimes take a spoon and mash some of the taters to “thicken” the broth.
