Mines the same around 40-50. Other threads on it too. Seems pretty common.

It’s a truck, tough love is the only thing that works. Tell it to “snap out of it” or it will be replaced by a Lexus.

Mine was 3/4 qt low from new. fix it the first month. Only difference is before when cold there was a 2 second delay when shifting from R to D. After the correct level, this never happened again.

Shift over into S4 when driving around town <55mph. If it drives good, you should try a ShiftSense Pro. Pretty cheap and changes the shift mapping to hold gears a little longer. Another member said it fixed the ~50mph lugging feel.

    But of course!

I’ve been screaming since ’16 thru the top of my lungs on this forum, there’s no such thing as a low on ATF TOYOTA Tacoma.

But there are certain elements or characters on here hell bent on trashing TOYOTA and this fine product.

If people only knew and could see the pains that manufacturers go thru to ensure proper fluid levels, they would immediately shoot them down. Ever wonder why these rumor mangers never say the P/S pump low? Or Mstr Cylinder, coolant or engine low? Because that’s too easy to verify and they’d get shot down quick.

My guess is that these rumor mangers are paid assassins, most likely by competitors.

My 2020 was leaking transmission fluid since driving off the lot, so I’m sure it ran low. ;) Oddly enough, it didn’t have the drivability issues people complain about here (or I’m just used to how 6 speed autos drive, and it doesn’t bother me). Dealer installed a re-man trans after the second repair attempt, haven’t bothered to look to see if this one also leaks...

You're living proof of the fake news lies my friend. It has to get a lot lower than a small leak before it starts to slip and complain
