You use the generic sharpies? Or the sharpie pro? Once I started using the pro I’ll never go back

Tip doesn’t get messed up even when dirty. Pretty impressive compared to the black generic ones

 

This is why I’m a big proponent for the harbor freight welders. They fuck up? Just go get a new one for free, so long as you have the replacement plan. It is so incredibly easy.

 

This is exactly why I got my tig from there. Also why I got my lincoln from lowes. Both offer replacement warranties. I got 4 years for the Lincoln from lowes for $150 and 2 years for the vulcan tig from harbor freight for $120

And both machines were in stock and ready for me to pick up. No ordering or having to wait.

 

What threw me is they sold it as a Repair Plan, not Replacement Plan. So I was expecting them to follow the fine print of the Repair stuff rather than do an in-store exchange. *shrug*

Good to know for future.

I was pleased they allowed a cost-difference upgrade too, though it makes sense if they’re treating it as a Replacement Plan.

BTW the plan cost apparently depends on price, $99 for the new plan on the Titanium 200.

 

Another pro tip, harbor freight always ask if you want the 1 year. For only a little more, you can get the 2 year. I assume they only push the 1 year because it’s better financially for them.

 

Haven’t had them push one vs the other, so far it’s just been them asking if I want the 1 year for $xx or the 2 year for $yy. Two year usually is the better $/time option. Certainly may differ from store to store.

Oh and apparently this is backed by Assurant - already received an email survey request to rate my experience with the exchange. LOL

 

Weird multiple employees specifically told me it was a replacement plan. I went to pick up some small stuff and asked about the welder warranties and then went back later the same day to purchase the welder and got got the same claim from a different employee. Probably depends on what each location is told to say.

 

It showed up on the receipt as “Repair Plan” so that’s why I thought it’s follow the Repair Plan stuff in the paperwork.

That’s why I was surprised in the first place. New one today also says Repair Plan on the receipt.

Of course, the employees are the folks who see what gets replaced under the plans, so perhaps that’s why they’re calling it what it ends up being even if it rings upas Repair?

 

Because the longer the warranty, the more likely it is to be used. If you remember you have it that is.

 

They don't do repairs. They replace your tool, and then throw away the unit you return if it is genuinely broken. If it is partially usable they often sell it again in the clearance section.

 

I set a reminder in my Google calendar 2 days before the expiration date lol.

 

I feel you on loving a marker when you find it. I don't use this one every day, but when I do I LOVE that I found it.

I do the same for any auto renew or similar timed stuff as well, especially stuff like 12 month promo rate on Internet service, SiriusXM subscription, etc.

 

Quick story I bought a Keurig coffee machine and knew it was going to shit the bed so I got the warranty. ($9). It shit the bed, so I called them and they told me to box it and take it to the UPS store and send it back. I did, and by the time I got home, (5 minutes) the money was in the bank. No shit.

Got these pieces fully welded finally. Welding tube is hard af for me still. Overall there isn’t anything I loathe, but lots I wish I could have done better.





Gotta gotta work on fabbing some tie down points, ramp holders, and probably tool holders.

 

Wish I had known about this when I got my Titanium 170, definitely something i would have considered. I'm outside the 90 day standard warranty so hopefully I dont encounter any issues. So far it's been great, knock on wood.

 

I despise welding tube off a welding table.... it’s a lot of torch wrist and body movement to try and I try to get a continuous weld atleast a 1/3 at a time for 3start/stop points.

 

My only issue was the solenoid was leaking, which if I had paid attention earlier, and had gotten gas earlier, I probably would’ve noticed within the 90 days.

Otherwise my titanium 170 was great. Very happy with it. All I’d change in my recommendation is to suggest folks try a tank of gas soon after buying so they can confirm their solenoid is working properly

The only reason I chose to upgrade was that I’d developed some interest in doing a bit of stainless steel fiddling in TIG and it seemed a good opportunity. When I finish the 80CF cylinder of C25 I’ll see about swapping it for argon and getting a 120CF or slightly larger of C25.
