you can just attach a label to a 'luggage tag' & attach the tag to the skid plate (or label directly to plate). UPS has the 'luggage tag' things. It's intended to attach labels to suitcases via the handle.
You can also wrap the plate in saran wrap & stick the label to the Saran. It will work, but the plastic wrap tends to get stuck on the conveyor transitions at the shipping sort centers (UPS, FedEx, USPS).
Neither really protects the plate, but will get it there. But skid plates are tough.
Neither ideal, but they are options for you to consider.

Got a pair of Rough Country LED pods in spot beam that I just took off today. Only ran it for like a year. Fully functional I just want a different look now. You have to get your own wiring harness but that should be pretty cheap.
