Yeah those black vinyl ones don't make it through a single winter. They get brittle and crack.

Did a steak for the son and some Italian sweet sausage for me on the gasser today, so no pics not smoked. High was -4 was a tit bit nipply when I took the dogs out this morning

    feb7.jpg

But at least it wasn't twenties below zero, close but not quite LOL. Wind chill was the temperature on the surface of Mars.

Classic Accessories Hickory Water-Resistant 26.5 Inch Kettle BBQ Grill Cover

Fits loose on the 22.5 kettle but full coverage. Got it 5 years ago in 2016 and still in good shape. Have the same make for the the gasser and WSM. Have 4 kettles and 2 covers for them. Once the snow flies often don't fit them just throw them over the grills to protect them. Seems to work as well and easier to remove. Worth every penny IMO.

Have to wait for them to cool off before putting the cover back on obviously. This is March a couple of years ago I used the gasser and didn't cover it went to bed. Then it snowed.

WSM and kettles covered, the WSM turned into Mr. Conehead LOL

Yeah until noon today we were under weather advisory with W/C of -35 to -50.

Just because you live in the coldest City in Canada doesn't mean you have to share your weather with us, you know? We aren't that far away but please keep old man winter nut sacks on your side of the border will ya?! :D Stay warm and be safe.

Good thing about wearing those masks is it helps heat up the air before breathing it. But it sure makes smoking a cigar difficult.

The reason I love this so much is here and Instagram and other forums etc, and I’m guilty of it too time to time, people post a lot of pictures and a whole life story about their cooks

    your post: “did a ham”.

    Can’t beat that

I said that, because there are probably 30 other posts from me doing hams, some with the details.

    Here are the details...

I diamond cut, rubbed it with pitfaced regular and brown sugar, smoked at 250 with hickory until an IT of 160. Sliced and ate it.

First chuck roast - split into two for different rubs. These will make great practice slabs before I go buying more briskets. Bark was fantastic, smoke was great, tenderness was hit and miss.

    nice!

I usually use chuck roast. Brisket is nice but the smallest I can get is like 13 lbs. I live with a vegan and my dog isn’t THAT spoiled.

    that looks great! Make tacos.

I actually just had some out the freeze last night. Put it in some tomato sauce and chowed down with tortellini that was awesome.
