Have a skid for your jack? Makes a huge difference in the sand

But yeah, after doing this a few times it’s not too bad to do on the trail if you have all the right tools

I was thinking that would be super scary having it up on a jack stand in the sand.

I used my traction ramps. Worked perfectly. Have all the tools in the truck already too. Biggest issue was that I forgot my spare CV at home.. otherwise I would have got it done in like 1 hour.

It kept moving on me a little.. had to find a good spot/setup but then it was all good.

Blew the CV on the diff side... On the passenger side... Again.

Literally a year ago to the day.. we did the same thing and changed on the trail.. And I was even wearing the same shirt.. wtf..

Just pushed it too hard again. Wheels cranked, and in and out of traction

    Hi all.

Im a travel nurse from Louisiana, working in Tucson until the end of may. I’m looking for some advice from some locals, or anyone familiar with the Redington pass area. Specifically, I want to check out Chiva Falls. I’ve read some different things concerning the difficulty of the trail, especially the three feathers area. I’m lifted 1.5” up front, 1” in the back, 33” ridge grapplers, and sliders. Also packing an extra 10mm socket. Think I can run the trail with what I’ve got?

I'll probably be in San Diego next weekend or I'd offer to go run it with you. You should be fine tho I think. Just stop and check the trail in spots you aren't sure of. There's a few where it's really important to check first if you are going by yourself and have never run it. I still haven't run the whole trail, just the upper portions, near Reddington Rd. It's a popular trail so there should be people out there running it on a weekend.

Chimney Rock is another fun trail to check out there. If you go in on the end that's closest, west end I think, the trail is pretty stock friendly. Continue following the trail and it gets pretty technical in spots. My 4Runner isn't locked in the rear, running 285/70s but it does have TRAC and it got used a lot on that trail. But it made it.

Going to be doing a rear dif fluid change here in a couple weeks as I'm due. Already have the bottles bc I bought extra last time, but while it's dry and before I put in new fluid is anyone on here confident to weld my rear diff?

The 7.5 axle will only be on my truck for another year or two before I go 6 lug. Idk what'd be good to pay for local tw members but I'm inept with welding.

Thanks for the info! After deliberating on it, my girlfriend and I decided it will probably be the wisest move to bring two vehicles, so we’re going to bring her Wrangler also, along with some straps, just in case.
Hit me up if you want to run something when you’re back in town. My work schedule is kind of unpredictable, but we may be able to figure a good wheeling day out.
