    Took my Tacoma in for the Annual service - went over 5000 miles on the way there. I had them install the aluminum filter housing and they did the ECM update without any questions.

    Here is a thread here on the TSB - but don't think it applies to 2021s. There was an ECM update somewhere around mid-2020 production. This TSB covers the 19s and earlier '20s that have the older version.

    Why do you need the filter housing drain plug too? Doesn't the one on the plastic housing fit? I would think they are the same size.

    You can certainly use the plastic one - I preferred to swap both to aluminum.

    I got the aluminum housing but not the drain plug. For now just keeping it on hand in case I break the plastic one. I changed the oil once and no prob.
