Any sport owners regret not getting an offroad?

Weird, because when I looked, 2wd long beds had 6800lbs for the sport, 6700lbs for the OR

Toyota's main site list both at 6600#, so hard telling which one is correct.

My 2020 Sport is my 4th Taco. The previous one was a 4 cyl base model that lasted 14 years and over 225,000 miles before the frame rusted out. I don't do serious off road anymore so that's no issue for me. So far the only thing I don't like about the Sport is the hard Tonneau cover. If it folded up all the way that'd be great .

Really wanted the OR but here in Canada at the time you couldn’t get a double cab OR with a MT. MT was a must so I went with the sport. At first I was really bummed out but I have taken this truck through some pretty tough back roads and it hasn’t missed a beat so I don’t regret the sport at all

Not actually a feature of the sport, that's an accessory available to all trims

I got The Sport 4x4 over the Off Road after visiting several dealerships and test drives. I got the Technology package and the features I wanted for the price i wanted.
I could of bought either one but decided on the Sport after finding the ride of the Off road Mushier on the street. I do alot of street driving and like the handling of the Sport. I planed on doing the occasional off road thing so I got the 4x4 but as of yet I haven't even needed 4 wheel drive for the dirt trails i have been on.
I plan on doing some snow trips so i'm sure it will come in handy. Its a 2018 and I have 47,000 miles on it and Probably 50 mile were off road lol!
Its not a question of which truck is better its a question of picking the right tool for the job.
If I lived near or in the mountains like in the North west i probably for certain would have picked the Off road. I live in SoCal and it almost never even rains let alone snow.
I have zero regrets because I feel i picked the right tool for the job at hand.

Niceeee. But even though you don’t need the 4wd, it’s advisable to use it on the trails . Why? , so it can cycle and Toyota recommends to use it once a month 10 miles to keep it in shape .

I REALLY wanted a Sport. Couldn't afford it. So settled for a SR5. Dealer sold it. Now they are getting me OR (cant complain - great upgrade). But I LOVE the body colored fenders on the SR5/Sport, and the Sport hood is so sexy.

I will be living vicariously through yours .... :)

    It's not all that great.

    a) It reflects the sun back into your eyes unless you get a TRD Pro and they put matte black vinyl on it.
    b) It makes it harder to judge the distance between you and the car/wall/pole in front of you when parking.

Sounds like first world problems! I kid. It just looks cool to me. My FJC had the front fake looking one as well.

    Be safe out there :)

I get the glare thing, I get it too when the sun is just right but I have no idea how it can affect parking or approaching a pole unless you can't
even see over the steering wheel. Some people talk about it like it sits 12" higher than without. :notsure:

    A. YES! It isn't often, but when I drive home from work certain times of the year, the sun hits it just right and I can't see even with sunglasses on. I have to change my sitting position to avoid it which gets uncomfortable after a while. Minor inconvenience as it isn't often, but when it does :annoyed:

    B. I haven't driven an OR yet to compare, but I can see that being an issue

As for the Sport/OR question... my 16 sport is still at the body shop, either it's totaled or I'm selling it and buying an OR. No, I don't regret buying a Sport (it's still a Taco), I don't off road at all, but this time I am buying an OR.

My main reason is the suspension... the Sport ensures you feel every last bump/hole. It handles great, but it's too stiff for me. Granted, I live in CT and our roads are atrocious... and I could upgrade the suspension.

My other reasons would just go down the Sport vs OR rabbit hole (scoop, locker, wheels, etc).

No issues here with glare or parking. I do wear sunglasses though most of the time when driving, even when overcast. IMO the scoop makes the front end look so much better, i love it!

Bought the TRD Sport because, I like the looks of it better than the OR.

FANTASTIC time I bet, and...YUMMMM!!!! I had a massive heart attack a few years back, my cardiologist put trout on the list of 'must eat' (often) foods.

Nope, no regrets here either. I wanted more options than an SR5 or SX... but didn’t feel it was financially smart to buy an OR and then replace the entire suspension. Plus, I love hoods scoops with zero function!

Oh man it was a great time!

On the 2nd day the wind was so bad, it was blowing us away haha. We heard thd trees cracking while we were on the lake and decided to get the f outta there asap. Its about a 30 min drive through the forest.

Yeah trout is a very healthy food, too bad they dont sell it in the stores here. Well, if they do its very rare and its so expensive. The only way to get it is to catch it yourself or buy it from the fishermen.
