What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

My confusion comes from the fact, the 4x4 setting knob is where the switch panel appears to be.

 

I did the OVTune on my 19 and love it

 

Installed Total Chaos bed stiffeners. Sprayed my OEM fogs with some Krylon Stain Glass Paint and LED Lower Bumper Hidden Light bar.

 

Looks good. How do you feel the 255/85's fit on the 8" Wheel? I've been running 255/85 on the stock OR wheels since almost day 1 with the truck. I've been considering either the SCS BR6, RAY10 or F5 (f5 really the most prominent at the moment). I've tried a lot of different AT/MT tires (on past vehicles) and I really love the ST maxx, particularly in this size. I'll never be able to justify the cost of ancillary mods for the jump to 35's, so I've decided this is the size for my truck.

I know cooper recommends 8" as the max wheel width for this tire.

I've been thinking about this myself for quite some time. Damn 4R's are pretty much designed to do it.

 

Also Harbor Frieght. And they have the longer ones as well. These are replacing a set I put somewhere, for safe keeping.

Fog lights look great, seems allot easier than installing the Lamin-X tint.

 

i think they look and fit on there pretty good. The installer didn’t have any issues putting them on. I think this size looks great too. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those choices. I have been trying to find a psi that feels good (have not done chalk test yet). I started at 45 and did not like how it handled. It felt like I was driving a boat went down to 40 and it get a lot better. Last weekend when I put SPC uppers on I lowered the psi to 35 but have not driven it yet. I’m holding off till it’s on the way to get an alignment. I played a little in the snow and didn’t have any issues but it was only goofing off in a small parking lot (before the UCAs).
I had been considering Mastercrafts in the same size but was talked out of them.

I run the same size tire, but in the TOYO MT variety.

I found that 28 rear, 32 front was ideal (at temp). That's what they chalked at as well.

Above 35lbs I found that I start bouncing around the road and it feels unstable.

Most the parking lots and neighborhood streets are stained white from salt, brine and snow so it might be a bit before I find a good place to try the chalk test. 45 was just terrible lol.

 

Most people are going to hate me here..... I run mine daily at 50. Sure it rides like shit, but the Fox's help make up for it, and the truck never rode nice to begin with. That 50 helps me not cry as much between visits to the gas pump. And surprisingly they wear pretty well at this pressure (I'm well aware of what over-inflation can do to a tire)

When we tow our travel trailer, I bump the rear up to 60.

When on moderate/light trails or just dirt/forestry roads I'll bring them down to 30, and when we're hitting and legit trails or when we're in sand, I'll drop them to 10-12.
Driving in snowy conditions, getting up or down the hill I also run them at 30. "Playing" in snow, down to 12-15.

As far as MT's go, in the past I've ran toyo open country mt's, bfg KM2 mt's, procomp mt2's, and Wrangler MT/r's. I've had my personal gripes with each of them. So far, the STmaxx has thoroughly impressed me in all the places that the others let me down. My alternate favorite from that list would be the goodyear MT/r. But, their dry on-road traction was mediocre, and wet on-road was almost scary. They also wore pretty quickly, but that's just kinda part of the deal with really aggressive mt's. If they had an MT/r in this size, I probably would have gone with it. One other non-MT tire I've ran in the past is the Goodyear Duratrac. I was really impressed with it, but no availability in this size. Actually, I used to manage an independent Goodyear retailer. We sold everything though, so it wasn't like just being a Goodyear nazi.

Toyos were too heavy, too expensive, and wore like crap, off-road traction was decent, on-road traction was actually quite good.
BFG KM2's were relatively expensive, wore meh, off-road traction was awesome, on-road was acceptable. My killer with these was that I had damaged 2 sidewalls on separate occasions. Driver error, sure, but I'm making the same errors with the Coops, and they're fine.
Procomps... let's just say were a mistake.
MT/r's, great except for the wear and daily driver traction.

The terrain select and crawl feature controls are located there on the off-road and pro models. I believe the sport, SR5 and SR have the sunglasses flip down holder where they installed the switch panel.

 

I figured there was something, model based, for the intended use.

I had lifted my truck about 2 inches. That being said, I wanted a jack that was a little more sturdy than the stock one. I wanted it to be simple and not spend a ton of money or lug around a hi-lift or a Pro Eagle Jack. So just ended up buying a 6 ton bottle jack ($25), hi lift base ($15), and a safety jack plate ($30). I also have a scrap metal plate to insert for added stability. Tested it out and it worked fine.

 

Yeah mine came installed at 45psi and I honestly hated the tires, it felt horrible.

I would imagine a similar pressure would work just fine, those are E rated tires right? If not you may need a bit more pressure than I'm running.
