I'm at 180k doing changes every 10k & haven't noticed any negatives from doing so. Doesn't burn any oil yet between changes.

Let me tell you a story...
Several years ago a buddy of mine (also an engineer) bought a new Honda Ridgeline. He drove about 25K a year and he checked his oil regularly - but never changed it or changed the filter. Over four years, he added less than a quart of oil. When he traded it in with over 100K it was running fine. He told the dealer he never changed the oil and they didn't care. They changed the oil and put it on the lot.
Well, the guy who bought it knew my buddy. The new guy followed maintenance schedules and put another 100K on it before he hit a deer and totalled it.

    Another data point.

what you did was really fucking stupid, and also a major potential issue for someone else

but of course, who gives a fuck about anybody else, right? if karma exists, expect to get fucked.

I change mine at 5K and it makes perfect sense because you should rotate tires every 5K so might as well just kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Im just curious, if anything happened to the engine, wouldnt they have a way of knowing that the oil wasnt changed for that long?
