I can not get over the lack of dead dinosaurs combusting noises on EV's. Is instant and unlimited torque cool, yes. But part of the experience IMO is the noise. EV's might be fast as fuck, but there's a lot missing to the experience for me personally. Plus search my other rants in the thread about EV's/ infrastructure in general.

That rig is so pimp. Too bad they flopped, but clearly it didn't stop a class win with just a little body damage.

Considering artificial exhaust notes are becoming more and more common on ICE vehicles, I have to believe you'll start to see something similar with electric vehicles. Granted, it doesn't have the same "feeling" but I suppose with some decent audio engineering you could get 70% of the experience, I suppose.

As I get older, I appreciate the quiet more and more. I need to get back on the savings horse to get a third car and go loud again. I'm straying too far from my Honda / tuner world roots. I haven't yet decided what I want, but I've got some time to play with. Rust has been slowly eating a lot of my top candidates.

I wouldn’t mind electric. As long as the recharge is acceptable for a road trip. That’s the issue. It’s getting better now but in the middle of BFE Oklahoma if you run out of electricity you can’t just pop into the nearest electricity station. Well. You can but there won’t be any. For a while.

not just that - when you’re hammer down and want to just cruise on through there’s no such thing as splash and dash.

But. I’m excited to see what the future has in store. If my next truck isn’t at least a hybrid I’d be surprised. Maybe the one after, we’ll see what happens.

Ran the CB setup. Accidentally knicked the antenna cable under the a pillar but it’s inside the cab, so - I haven’t had a chance to tune it yet. If it acts up I’ll get a new antenna cable. But for now I figure I can get this one through this year and next winter at least. Haven’t zip tied it up yet underneath, but it’s pretty much run.

got antenna. Don’t have mount. Mount is to be shipped. From Amazon. One of the rago style ones. But I will probably run out to the home cheapo and just get a steel bracket to set it up in the meantime.

the issue I did run into is.....I got the wrong harness connector. :angrygirl:

I got a brake controller connector for an second gen I think. I’m planning to use that to tap into the brake controller 12V and ground. If I need a brake control some day I’ll set it up but :notsure: the initial idea is that it’s clean and fused and keyed. But after reading a bit I don’t know that it is keyed. Either way, it’s either that or run a switch etc etc. so, new harness coming Thursday I can do the final touch up then. But I set up the brain and ran the antenna cable. I’m 95% of the way set up. With the last hurdle being getting power to it.

eventually I might run a dedicated line to the battery or a secondary fuse panel just for this, with a switch. But until then, even if the controller isn’t keyed it would be the same. 10 bucks and the wires are all already there.

get a one way flight to San Antonio or Austin. Lots of stuff there. Dallas, Phoenix, etc are all options too. Basically go to the southwest and just drive it home.

Best breakfast tacos I’ve ever had were in SA. But I was a bigger fan of Austin’s food scene overall.

    FFS another one?! :|

I did see they’re doing a new top gear America. With Dax shepherd and a few other guys I haven’t heard of. I haven’t watched any yet. I’m cautiously optimistic but the old US version tried to force a charisma between 3 hosts immediately, where the UK took like 15 years of working together to build that. Just felt forced. And I’m thinking this one might too.

2-4 inches today boys! Yee haw!

its going to be hard to match them. I think it’s kind of once in a lifetime. I mean other than them you had Regis and Kelly, etc but nobody as much to that level of shenanigans. Maybe whose line. But yeah part of what made them work was 3 friends who ripped on each other and traveled the world together etc for 20 some odd years AND the viewers doing the same. It’s just not something you can force overnight.

I did appreciate the first go at American top gear didn’t take it too seriously. But I did watch a new episode of the UK version and it seemed too much like they were trying to make a serious car show.

Anyway. Snow starts at 10 ish this morning. Fortunately I live and work in the same town and know which roads to take when it’s snowing. Hoping for a quiet afternoon commute tonight too.
