    Good afternoon to all,

I have been working for the past few months on a new product for Double Cab Taco's (both 2nd and 3rd gens). I am pleased to announce they are finally ready after multiple design iterations to ensure a perfect fit in multiple different configurations.

What I have created is a platform constructed 100% out of ABS that is custom fit for our backseats to give you a flat surface once the seats are folded down. This serves multiple purposes such as protecting your seats fabric/leather when your pets are riding inside (hair/claws/etc.), or a flat surface for carrying gear that increases the amount of usable space in the backseat (which also protects your seats), and many others.

The platforms come in three configurations, a full length (covers the entire width of the backseat and weighs right at about 20 lbs.) a 60% length (covers the double rear seat when folded, allowing you to still leave the single seat in the upright position if you needed to carry dogs/gear etc. AND carry a 3rd passenger, and weighs right at about 12 lbs.), and a new size; the 40% (covering the rear single seat, enabling you to keep 2 usable seats upright). Like I mentioned earlier, they are constructed 100% out of ABS and install/remove in less than a minute so can easily be taken out if you need to re-deploy your seats in a hurry. Since it is constructed out of ABS, it is also 100% waterproof so can be tossed in the bed of your truck no matter the weather conditions. This is also beneficial if used frequently for pets or dirty gear, as it can be cleaned quickly just by spraying it off with a garden hose.

Each platform will come with specially designed "pop locks" that slide over the seat latches to ensure the platform will not fall forward and fold itself up in hard braking or bumpy conditions.

Please see attached pictures and check out the website I have created as well at www.platz-form.com. I have a couple of each size available right now and more are on the way. I am located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas for local pickup but also can ship to anywhere in the continental U.S. Each platform ships flat rate $12.99!

    Full Length - $425.00
    60% Length - $300.00
    40% Length - $275.00
    Combo (40% + 60%) - $575.00

Shipping - $12.99 Flat Rate to Continental U.S.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions! Thanks for looking.

Any trouble with sliding on the surface?

The useable side of the platforms has a little texture to it (think like a light spray on bed liner, but not like sandpaper). Given it is a relatively smooth surface, during tight turns there can be some sliding depending on what you are carrying. I use it regularly for my dogs and as long as their nails are trimmed, they dont have many issues while cornering unless I am going a little too fast. Regarding gear/boxes, etc. it also depends on the weight but inherently, yes there will be some light sliding as the surface is not rubbery. This can be somewhat mitigated by using containers with rubber feet like Yeti Coolers and the like.

Sorry for rambling a bit, just trying to explain the texture as best I can using examples for anyone else who may have the same or similar question.

Nice. You could always have options for add ons in the future like molle panel mounting locations, add on cargo retaining bumpers to prevent cargo from sliding, eyelets for straps etc

Good thought, the only reason I hesitated from doing additions like this at first was it would prevent the platform from folding perfectly flat, but I am sure I could figure something out!

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't take it as rambling at all. Looks like an awesome product. Good luck with you sales.

For sure! The add ons would have to be able to be removed prior to folding somehow. ABS is pretty versatile so you have a great foundation to work with.

good work and good luck with the sales

Please consider making a video and throwing it up on YouTube or your website. While the pictures help, having a video of your product in use goes much further towards buyer confidence and sales, or not, of course, if it turns out to be a crap product. GLWS.

    How thick is the abs?
And how do you package them for shipping? Just wondering about possible shipping damages.
Also is the hinge made of stainless steel?

ABS is 1/4" thick. The hinge is also made of ABS and is plastic-welded to both panels making the platform 100% ABS.

Regarding shipping, at this time, the platforms will be completely encapsulated in bubble wrap, followed by an outer layer of corrugated cardboard.

I love this idea and if you don't mind I have a couple suggestions that you could implement without having to rebuild everything.
    1. You should cut a carry handle into the back rest piece.
    2. Countersink some magnets on the ends so when folded up the magnets touch and hold the boards closed
    3. Maybe have some rubber bumpers on the bottom edges to protect the hinge in case it's dropped.
    4. This one would require rebuilding what stock you have and not all that important. Have the hinge milled into the panels. That way it would be a flush seemless piece. But I believe this one isn't all that important.
