Voice control is great, and all my animals come to me when I call. (Cows included) But my viszlas, every single one, would take off on a scent and disappear if I wasn't focused on them constantly. I never lost any. They were always found. Sometimes 30 miles away...
For a bird dog it seemed kind of odd, but that's my experience.

My GSP is the same, he may or may not come when called. Last time we let him off he nearly got run over. He is now neutered so hoping his attitude will change for the better.

    Close. This is "it's bedtime"

Eleven years now, she has her routine. This is the time when she gets skritches while I read in bed. She's presently in the crook of my arm snoring away while I type this

Sweet Gracie Mae. It’s calling for snow here in Seattle. Pulled out the winter coat. I think someone is happy and content.

Our 10 month English Bulldog Milo. There he is hating his stupidly expensive Carhartt harness & chillin on the couch.

Took my old guy on an adventure over the weekend. He wasn't impressed by the snow. As he has gotten older (he is 13 now) I've had to adjust our adventures to his abilities.

Completely understand about adjusting for the dog.
Weather in this location has become the normal February situation, below 0F, windchill in the -teens (or lower) and snowing........ :annoyed:

Prep for our walks have become a task. My dog is miniature schnauzer, weighs 17 lbs. Not much dog to freeze. So, polyfill vest, paw booties, collar and leash. Then I bundle up. Out we go, walking time has shrunk from 45-60 minutes down to about 20 minutes.

The colder it gets, the we become more resistant to donning the gear and the walks are all business.

The bottom limit is -20F of combined temperature and windchill.
