Welp found me 22ft 2013 eclipse Milan 18ckg out in the desert of Phelan, Ca. Weights 3180lbs and Paid $5700 including a E2 Equalizer Hitch and a Tekonsha primus IQ break controller. Tires were rotting, needs a bath, wax, 2 new batteries, a couple of cabinet screws and it's basically new. It was only used 6-8 times since 2013. I bought a scanguage to watch my transmission temp and the highest it got was TFT 215 after a 1.5hr commute back home over hills, down hill and flats. Looks like I will install a bigger transmission cooler. Besides TFT what other gauges should I run on my scanguage for towing. Also notice a slight sag on my truck, should I raise the ball up one notch or get some deaver leaf packs? What batteries are you guys using that house in front of trailer are? I’m thinking group 27 AGM might be a good start. I am new to the travel trailer world but I’ve towed 4 different size boats in my time. The biggest one was a 22 foot key west dual console but pulled that with a tundra that I traded for my Tacoma. The Tacoma feels sluggish towing the travel trailer but that’s to be expected. Only using the travel trailer 3-4 times a year up to the eastern sierras to camp and fish and maybe a beach outing so I won’t be trading in the Tacoma for a V8.

Nice find - ya done good. My preference is to tow with the nose of the trailer slightly down so your setup looks OK to me. I added Firestone bags and aired them up to around 35 psi when towing to prevent the rear from hitting the jounce stops when crossing bumps. As to batteries, I switched to two 6V Duracell GC2's https://www.samsclub.com/p/duracell-golf-car-battery-group-size-gc2/prod3590228 from Sam's Club a few years back and have been well satisfied. The cost for a pair isn't to much more than that of a quality deep cycle 12V. Have fun out there.

Thank you! I hear a lot of good things about adding sumo bump stops over air bags but I’d figure deaver leaf pack and the weight distribution should help a lot with sag. I don’t know much about golf cart batteries, will 2 6 volt be better and give me more hrs than 2 group 27 AGM deep cycles? I’m one benefit is they’re lighter than a group 27.

I'd guess there's not much weight difference between a single GC2 Durcell and a Grp 27 - maybe 65-70 lbs each? Never tried to run two Grp 27 in parallel but the two 6V's in series would get us through a three day weekend without re-charging and the Grp 27 deep cycle I had wouldn't. Note: I take my shop charger along on longer trips and it works well with the inverter on the Taco to top off the batteries. The 6V's also lasted longer (5 yrs vs 3 yrs) before needing replacement. I'd also recommend going to LED bulbs in all interior fixtures.

Oh ok...Did those 2 GC batteries fit up front on the trailer of the RV or did you store them somewhere? I need battery boxes that sit on the front of trailer. I was thinking for a 4 nights trip I could get 2 group 27 and be Golden. Do you tow with a Tacoma and did you run a bigger transmission cooler?
