I hope mine works like that. What was your original production date, and did Toyota move it earlier?

Truck arrived at the dealer yesterday in central NC. Was "ordered" 10/25, and built 1/18.

Hopefully I can pick her up early next week.

I placed an order for a Lunar Rock 6MT on 1/31 and was told 6-8 weeks.

Ordered Voodoo Blue OR late Nov and was told Apr/May (and put down the obligatory $500). Still no temp VIN# and really don't expect one for awhile. Although, things like this are expected in Hawaii. In fact, you are pretty limited on how you can order a Taco. You get two options...the "A" package or the "B" package, nothing else (not applicable to the Pro)! The "B" package is fairly loaded but missing 1-2 things (like electronic tailgate lock). Once truck arrives and BEFORE I take position, hoping to negotiate the inclusion of the TRD Leveling Lift, TRD Exhaust, and tonneau cover. Willing to pay fair price for these additions, but don't want to pay full labor, etc. Expecting (hoping) the dealership takes care of me. My third Taco and recognize the endless mods that will be coming.

You can always add the tailgate lock later.

Are you able to get a manual transmission in either “A” or “B”?

Yes. However, with the "B" package the Advanced Technology option is only available with A/T. I went with A/T after having back-to-back M/Ts. With Oahu traffic, M/T is just too much of a PITA. I'll live with the wonky Taco A/T.

Is this a Premium? If so, it's the same as mine over here on Caribou Island.

I want to order a TRD PRO w/a manual, double cab and the dealership is telling me they can't do that. It is not available. So I'm a bit confused as to why I can build one online, but can't order one???

I would take it to mean that they have not been allocated any pros with that drive-train and perhaps, depending where you are located, no dealers around you have been allocated pros with that drive-train. However, they are available if you are willing to look far and wide. Speaking as a person with a manual on my 2021 TRD OR, it is very much worth seeking.

I could not agree more with this statement. I’m extremely happy with the manual, and it makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel. Totally worth the 5+ month wait for my AC MT OR.

What folks' dealerships are requiring for deposits?

Short story long: dropped my wife off to pick up her '14 Rav from having some service done and as she hops out she off handedly remarks "Think I'll test drive a new one." Needless to say, she left with a new Rav. I cannot count the number of times I've "built" a '21 Tacoma on their website and now I'm envious. Not to mention I really want some features that my '17 SR5 doesn't have. I've yet to find a dealer in Maine that has what I'm looking for--DCLB OR w/ premium tech. Not opposed to ordering it

I'm in the same situation with my dealer. There is a shortage this year (in Canada at least) of Tacomas and it may only get worse if the semi-conductor shortage persists.

My dealer had three total Pros come through in MY20. All autos. I'm hoping they can get one allocated to them/me but am not holding my breath.

There is a single manual Pro for sale in Canada right now. In a different province. The only one that's come up this calendar year. I contacted them about it but, again, due to shortages they won't sell out of province. That may be true, or they may have cut me loose when I was trying to negotiate a deal knowing that they could sell it at full price locally. It was white. My least favorite colour so if I'm settling on colour I at least want a deal. Otherwise....I'm checking online daily for something anywhere in the country and ready to jump.

I really want that manual. Otherwise...if by the end of the summer I can't find one I'll "settle" for an Off Road with an auto. It's unfortunate that we can't get an Off Road DC with a manual in Canada.

@cmbondo ahh that's nothing when dropping 40k +/-. I just assumed it'd essentially be a down payment size. Also realize that is up to the dealer.
