Anyone know what the warranty is the batteries in these things? im at 2.3 years 20k miles, my battery is shot and Im trying to decide if I should even bother going to the dealer or if I should just go grab a new one at costco.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I just did a new one at AutoZone. Except I'm at 62k in the same time frame.

If you're still under 3 year/36K warranty, should be covered.

Ive got a new one all priced out with costco, but If they will replace it for free I would rather save the $150 for something else.

Thanks, all the official toyota stuff says 2 year 24k, but none of it says "factory battery", it all says "battery from a dealer". But then some of it says its not covered if its frozen, well shit, this is MN, batteries freeze every year for about 2 weeks straight.

Guess i'll find out for sure on wed, if they say no, ill drive over to costco down the street and hope they have them back in stock.

I had mine replaced by the dealer under warranty at 2.5 years. On that note, the battery that was replaced seems to be weak after 1 yr of usage.

This isn’t the first thread I have read about battery issues in less than 3 years of use. I’m curious, do you guys have a bunch of electrical accessories/mods that are shortening the life of the battery, or does Toyota just use lower quality batteries? I’m still new to Toyota’s, so I’m just trying to get a handle on what I should expect in a couple years. With all the modifications that people do to these trucks it just made me curious.

Do you just need more length? I have this on my truck. It will gain you a few inches plus give you a 5 pin to tap accessories into in the future.

Speaking of dumb stuff, went wheeling yesterday and got caught on a ledge. Didn’t realize I was caught on my driveshaft and put some nice scrapes and dents into it. Going to see if I can get it rebalanced before it destroys my u-joints and other stuff. Stupid move on my part. Once I slid over and was dead on with the ledge I should have backed off and readjusted, but I wanted to play with the front locker

    [/QUOTE]

Great job with the axles, I have been considering the install myself. Wanted to let you know if you deicide to purchase a new driveshaft check out Tow Woods custom driveshafts. They have done all my past drive shafts without a single issue. Sometimes when you call Tom will pick up the phone and you can have a little shop to pick his brain.

Did you cut that single switch spot out yourself or was it a custom switch panel. I have been on the look for a single switch panel for an install I have in the works and having trouble finding one. It looks great and that was a super idea. Thanks for sharing.

No, I asked folks on the Meso's custom switch panel thread who has takeoff panel pieces (from an OR taco, with center piece with a factory switch cut out), luckily I found someone selling.
and then I purchased those damn expensive switch blank from the dealership $20 + tax. *(later realized Meso makes those switch blanks too for mere $2 a piece).
I then swapped my center piece on the overhead console with the piece with a switch cut out. I then drilled a hole in the switch blank I purchased from dealer and trimmed it's inside for the LED dimmer to install the LED dimmer neatly and then I popped it along with wires into the switch blank of the console.
On the other side of the overhead console where the switch blank goes, thankfully there are factory cutouts, so the 3 wires from the dimmer were easily able to be pulled through.
Believe it or not, this was the easy part.
The rest of the wiring from the actual meso map lights, wedge connector to the back, pulling the wires through the tiny holes, taking + and -ve leads from the OEM female twist and turn wedge connector, all to connect to the 3 wires from the LED dimmer, and doing it neatly, soldering, heat shrinking etc, that was the hard part. You can PM me for detailed pictures of the process. Too many to post on this thread.
I think Meso makes overhead panel pieces too. You can check his website to buy.

From what I’ve read on here I understand that the 24F battery that is in the third gens were used on the second gen four bangers. Sounds like they’re using up their surplus. :notsure:
