This morning is a cold one up in Edmonton, Alberta . Unless your vehicle is plugged in (block heater and battery blanket around it) good luck going anywhere !

 

Ack, glad I moved way south decades ago. 70 at 7am this morning.

 

No thank you sir. I'll let you keep all that cold up there. Stay frosty.

pretty nippy in Airdrie this morning to... felt like -47c it was saying!!

This morning's low here in CT was 11°F (-12°C)
-42°C = -44°F, so yeah, that is cold.

 

im sick of it. next week looks better atleast

 

Problem is.....a good chunk of that cold has spilled across the border.

-12F this morning.....heading for -20F with additional windchill in a day or so. Oh, btw, more snow is predicted.

I really hate winter in the mid-West.

We also get to take precautions against frozen pipes.........

Last winter, our supply water lines (hot or cold) didn't freeze. But the drain line from the kitchen sink froze.......

That was fun.... grey kitchen water all over the basement.

Then a week later, all the drains were slow to not draining. Tracked the problem to the sewer vent on the roof had frosted shut. Several buckets of hot water cleared the ice. Changed the vent last summer from a 3" to a 6" vent, problem should not return. Nothing more fun than climbing a ladder in below 0 weather, carrying a bucket of hot water and transversing an ice/snow covered roof.

I really hate winter in the mid-West.

I'm sure it is a nice summer day in Alberta.......

That is why I resist going farther North.

One of biggest difference is Alberta is better prepared for such weather. Its normal for you.

You should call the cops and the tree hugger agency to report a mercury theft. You know mercury is toxic stuff............

 

Yellowknife has to be colder.

 

I remember in a -40 cold snap driving into the city from Spruce Grove and my throttle plate freezing open on the little Jetta I was driving.. sitting at the light out of gear at redline lol..
Good thing the vw shop was on the west-end.

Not necessarily. Quite often as these air masses move south, areas further north get a slight reprieve, relatively speaking.
