I didn’t like having sitting at a restaurant waiting for food and killing my times. With Pizza Hut I get paid minimum wage plus tips plus gas mileage so I’m bringing home every 2 weeks like seven to $800 working three to 4 days a week for like 4 to 5 hours a night

    edit:
Minimum wage here is $12 an hour

Yeah, not here in PA; The pizza place I worked at paid $5 an hour under the table and you kept whatever you made in tips. I quit after my truck got hit by a drunk driver right after I finished my shift...

Yea I know it’s different all over the country but here in Oregon I’m not mad about the way they pay.

for example I worked 5:15 to 9:30 last night and walked away with $59 in tips even after being super dead the last hour I was there.

most I have made in a day is $135 and I average $50-75

Some pictures I forgot to post; I dropped off an order in a fairly upscale neighborhood in Blue Bell. Most of the houses were probably in the $500K-$600K range, but they were older homes and most of them were probably under 3,000 square feet.

The house in the picture below was not the customer’s, but right around the corner from it; I though that the house was particularly beautiful!

    EA0B3736-A0E3-4E4C-AD1D-C5B9FCAE5091.jpg

It does not appear to be from the same era as the other houses; I believe that someone either tore down an older and smaller house, or built on vacant land.

Made a delivery to an old townhouse and the front porch light was burned out; Luckily, I found the perfect parking space and was able to use the truck’s headlights!

Found out why I’ve been getting so many orders for $3...

DoorDash was guilty of stealing tips; If the Dasher got a $7 tip on an order with base pay of $4 for example, DoorDash would simply pocket the $4 difference and the Dasher would get $7 instead of the $11 they were supposed to be getting. Someone figured this out and it turned into a PR disaster for DoorDash, so they fixed it...

The orders of $3 to $4 are the people who don’t tip (like that bank in the Walmart in Cheltenham a little over a week ago).

On the flip side, people who don’t tip are complaining that their food is arriving cold! Why? Because just about every dasher who receives the order turns it down and the order has been sitting out for a while by the time someone accepts it!

You tip your waiter/waitress, you tip your bartender; Same thing applies to your DoorDash driver, ya cheap bastard!

Seriously though, I’ve been satisfied with my earnings DoorDash; In my opinion, all it does is rack up miles on my truck...

    • My truck is a Toyota.
    • My truck has been paid off for almost a decade and I have no plans to sell it.
    • I take very good care of my truck.

If my truck were not paid off and/or I did plan to sell sell it, putting miles on it would scare me a bit, but I really don’t care. I’ve even determined that with my truck’s relatively poor gas mileage, I am still turning a profit!

Made a delivery to an employee at this Ocean State Job Lot in Montgomeryville; The place used to be a Babies “R” Us, and this sign was there when the baby store was still in business...

Whenever I see a “No Photography” sign at a retail establishment (or pretty much any place that isn’t a top secret military installation, for that matter), it only succeeds in making me want to take a ton of pictures!

I will never understand why, with DoorDash, it’s one and done while I have to undergo a yearly background check to deliver food for Uber (or least why I have to initiate it myself)...

    :annoyed:

Wag! made me pay for my own background check...

    :luvya:

At least Uber doesn’t do that! But seriously, I’m delivering food, and I would give Uber permission to run a background check whenever they saw fit if I could! I updated my insurance and that took a day; I also updated my registration (since I got the Railroad plate last month).

Why am I keeping an account with Uber Eats? I want to keep my options open! If DoorDash is slow, I’ll sign into Uber Eats!

I’ve done 144 trips with Uber Eats; Only 38 customers gave me ratings, of those 38, 2 gave me negative reviews...

    :annoyed:

The first one was a drunk 20-something guy in Conshohocken; I explained to him that the restaurant had packed his order improperly. He said it was cool, but within minutes of leaving his house I got my first negative review...

    :luvya:

The second negative review was a guy in a townhouse around the corner from my house; I picked up his order from the Friendly’s on 611 in Horsham; The clerk assured me the order was complete.

I drove to the guy’s house and handed it over; I was walking back to my truck when the guy started bitching about how the order was incomplete. I was intending this to be my last trip of the evening, and though the guy believed story that it was the restaurant’s fault, he expected me to drive his food back to Friendly’s. I had plans and a schedule to keep, and I didn’t want to burn gas going all the way back to Friendly’s.

He told me to just cancel the order, and I thought I did, but I accidentally clicked “complete trip” and charged him for the delivery; His response was to immediately nuke me...

So I’m unfriendly and unprofessional because the restaurant screwed up, and I don’t have time to drive your food all the way back to the restaurant?!?! Yeah..

The reason I have over 500 trips on DoorDash since July 2019 but only 144 trips on Uber Eats since December 2018 is because I only did it sporadically for the first seven months after I signed up; I attempted to make a full-time job of it after leaving the detail shop, then switched exclusively to DoorDash because Uber Eats had this obnoxious habit of sending me into Philly. I may have done it a couple times in late 2019-early 2020, but then COVID hit and I didn’t do either DoorDash or Uber Eats for almost a year.
