It actually rained pretty hard here last night and was raining pretty decent on my way into work this morning... the only water in the bed was from the openings at the corners of the front of the bed itself as it came from Toyota. I plan to seal these up soon. Other than that the bed was dry as a bone. I may try and seal around the tailgate as well just to play it safe as that’s definitely a potential point of ingress although at no fault of the cap.

I think this would hold up extremely well in even the harshest environments; it’s extremely well built.

The cost is not small, however, given the quality, good looks and versatility with the various different bins and rooftop mounting solutions I think it’s not only well worth it, I think it’s the best option on the market in it’s class. The only other thing I would consider besides this would be something like a Norweld tray and cap but I don’t think it’s worth thousands more. A full system from Norweld is roughly 4 times the price, requires professional installation and permanent modification.

Can you do me a favor when you h e the time? Can you measure the distance between the back window when it’s open to the tailgate when it’s opened as well? Just like the picture you have with the deck draw pulled out.

If I understood you correctly here are the measurements, from truck bed to opening is 34.5" and from tailgate to high point on RSI rear window is 40.5"

On the right side rail, it look like the middle fastener is bowing the cap downward a bit like it did with mine. Have you looked into that at all?

Awesome; that's plenty of room and ~2" higher than a Leer.
    Thank you!

I love this setup and seriously contemplating it, but I really don’t want to go back to a hitch mount bike carrier :/

Since we are getting measurements, can you measure the distance from your bed stiffeners and the decked? I carry around a small propane tank and wondering if it would fit in there and could be strapped in place to the stiffener and the anchor point the decked is strapped to?

The propane tank is one of the 5lb/1 gal tanks like what’s pictured here.....

Sorry if this has been asked before, I could not find it in the search function. What is the bar on top of the cap for? It looks like its between the rails? would this get in the way of an aftermarket roof rack? Post 418, pic 2 shows this bar

    “Positive Pressure Air Vent”

Check out the “breath of fresh air” part of their advertisement on here:

    https://www.na.rsismartcap.com/products/smartcap-evo

Basically a 1 way vent system that allows air flow but should help keep dust out.

The vent is less obstructive than the factory fin antennae on the roof of the truck, shouldn’t impact any roof racks.

For my dogs, does this cap come with a gasket to put between shell and rear window so I can pump AC into the shell?

    Nope.

I bought a Truk-Boot inflatable seal that goes between the cab and shell. Haven't actually tried it yet.

Are you talking about between the tailgate and the decked? Theres no way a propane tank could fit there with tailgate closed, its only ~4". If you are referring to another measurement lmk.

That's the first LB RSI I've seen, and probably the best fitting / most appealing look so far. Is it the EVOa or Sport with no windows? It seems very far forward towards the cab, how is the tailgate - can you post a picture of the hatch closed at the tailgate lip. I'd really like to see a black EVOa on a black DCLB...that'll help make my decision.
