Anyone have an idea of what a magnuson supercharger install would cost? This is beyond my skillset and I honestly am looking for long term performance, so I don't want to screw it up. At $6500 for purchase....better leave it to the pros.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Thanks. I had done that as well, but always ran around looking for something I hadn't yet put away. And the bottom of the bag always such a mess trying to find stuff. This just made sense to me.

I think it's like 30 hours total but that might be just the amateur estimate. I would guess for a pro you'd be paying between $1.5-2k if you find someone who is familiar with the install and isn't going to try to milk you. We used to initially charge whatever the manufacturer recommended and then adjust downward if it was overly generous.

Good luck though... you'll probably have better luck going outside NOVA because most places here will fleece you. @EatSleepTacos is right below though... it's not a hard install, just very involved. With a large workbench to lay out the parts, it's not hard if you're at all mechanically inclined. Biggest thing you can fuck up is not seating the gasket or over/under-torqueing bolts so use a torque wrench if you're worried and you should be fine.

If you have basic wrenching skills, I say go for it. I have a friend here that DIY installed one on his third gen and he said it was very easy. The instructions are THOROUGH and good pictures. It's like "Step 1: Disconnect the ground battery" and will have a picture of the battery with a giant arrow pointing at the ground cable.

I'll agree with everyone else. It's really not that hard. Basic tools'll get you by. Set aside a weekend and a few beers and you'll be done before you know it. If you still want a place to do it there's a joint in Wilson, NC that I cannot recall the name of right now that's done a few.

Edit: I remembered the name. Down East Offroad

    Everyone,

Just picked up this 04 Tacoma last week. I live in Arlington (south Arlington) and am glad to be part of this group.

Looking forward to learning about this cool truck and hopefully make any Tacoma meet ups in NoVA.

Danny could do it. He did the install on @fatfurious2 s truck, then swapped his blower onto mine. I dont remember what it costs, but it was pretty affordable.

    Edit: maybe 800$?

    wanna be mods
I have been weighing this type purchase for either a tractor or skidsteer for the home, but know that with my 6'4"x10 single axle trailer, I have pulled ~4,000lbs of frozen firewood about 77 miles, mostly interstate and it wasn't fun or ideal, plus it was before leaf spring/suspension upgrades, and it was a lot of S3 and S4 with extra heavy "right foot" effort. The axle is rated at 3,500lbs. fyi.

Here was about as uncomfortable a load I've hauled with the trailer and taco, but thankfully it was all back roads and only 14 miles from home, and again stock suspension setup.[IMG]

Think I just need a beater 250/2500 level towing vehicle!

I think it was around $1200. But definitely affordable.

You guys are terrible for any bit of discipline I should have. My nephew just confirmed he can do it on a weekend at his garage in springfield. Ok....time to order....it's in stock with free shipping! What else should I get with it as far as management?
ps. my excuse to get it....it's cheaper than a new sports car!

Any suggestions on a quality shop to get tires (maybe an alignment check) replaced?

The tires that came on the truck look good, fair amount of tread, but the date code indicates manufactured in 2012.

Think I should keep them or replace them for good measure?

It comes with everything you'll need. May want to think about a boost gauge at the very least.
