I need to get access to the switches on the center console on 2016 model. How do you remove panel to gain access to back of switches?

I couldn't get an answer from anyone, so this is how I did it. It's not bad, just be careful.

Did that work for you? The correct way sucks.

You have to take everything apart. Pretty much from door to door. And the whole center console. If you need i can take pics of what panels asked what order if you need.

It works great. Skinny girl arms would have helped but it's doable. Cruiserheads is where I bought the switch. They customized it for me, talk to will. Out of curiosity what is the proper way? I couldn't figure it out lol. That was the easiest way for sure

Passenger side. There's a panel on the side of the dash (part against the door when it's closed. Then a panel outboard of the glove box. Then the lower air bag.

Jump to the drivers side. Whole kick panel has to be taken off.

Console. Shift knob. Then console bezel (don't forget to unhook wire). Pull storage bin/armrest. Then the front console piece. Need to pop off climate control bezel (don't know if that's the right way).

Then that panel can come off.

I've switched from a wireless charger cubby to a non charger version and switched from the 3 plug center panel to the 5 plug. Was able to add 3 more switches.

Why did you remove the charger? I don't use mine, would it benefit me to replace with a non charging cubby also?

It was over hundred bucks for the part so it would depend if that's worth it to you. It's a little deeper but not a whole lot. It just bugged me knowing there's something there I'd never use so i switched it. It also freed up another spot on the dash for another switch. .

What's so different about the new part? I'm just curious why you didn't unplug the charging switch and tuck the feed in behind the dash? Charging system disabled and free switch spot? Why spend the extra $100?

Nice job. Didn't even have to unplug the head unit! So much easier than the process you guys told me about. Whole dash removal vs. 4 10mm bolts? No brainer.

Parking lights on 2nd photo lightbar on switch was 30 bucks from aironboard but well worth it. Just gently pull bezel piece out around stereo, then 4 10mm bolts. Im a big guy and was able to get my big hands down there IMG_0086.jpgIMG_0087.jpg

#Diego1931 Thank you for the information and the easy way in. I'm going to be doing mine this weekend. Do you know how the power port comes out? I want to wire it to full time power when I go in to change one switch out

You're unlikely to get a reply from the folks above in this zombie thread. But, the power ports comes out very easily and the connector comes apart. I scabbed on leads for front camera power in the pic below.

To get the power port out, there are black, square tabs from the cover on the bottom and top of the barrel. You can see the bottom one peeking in. Just push them both outward gently while pulling the barrel toward you. Once the barrel is slid out, the cover can be pulled out also.

It is an old joke from another forum to photo bomb toes or socks. LoL!

    :hattip:

It is a deceptive removal. When I first tried, I was attempting from the back side.
