Got some idq12s to fit.

Not impressed so far. Bass is really really high pitch :/ amp is a jl 1000/1. Maybe some tuning of the amp? Should I even be using the crossover on the amp? Ideas?

.82cuft per sub but I also added 1/2 mdf to the front of the speaker holes so I may have got a little more space. This doesn't count whatever room the magnets sucks up.
1.7 or 1.9 I believe is what I got when I ohmed them out together. I know for sure it's above 1.5

Devl, I forgot about adding some polyfill inside. Think that'll make a big diff?

 

And how did you get airspace for 12s? My box is a lil short on airspace for 10s and its as big as I could make it. Around .6ft is not enough for 12s. You should have a full cubic foot each.

And I moved my seat latches to the 2nd set of holes to give me a few more inches for excursion.

Why does everyone ask that? The idq12's only require .65 - 1.0cuft per their website.

Set the LP (low pass) crossover on the amp to 80hz.

 

I found some tuning stuff on the jl website too.

 

Before you call me an idiot, I did this in the dark with a half dead flashlight and you know how much room there is behind this seat to wire a box while it's already in.

Anyway, I crossed the polarity on one of the wires so they were canceling each other out. Did the battery test and duh. Now they're rockin. Going to tune them now.

They actually have a wide range of bass compared to my rockford rfr 3112s. With the rockfords I'd throw on some punk and you couldn't tell I had subs.

I'd like to hear a little more lows but I should get that with the poly fill I just bought at walmart.

Like I was told, these subs are very clean sounding.

 

I just pulled 121.4 db from them. Is that ok? Not quite a 747 :/

 

Set that crossover to 80hz or close to there. Then it's all in your eq and gain settings. I'd keep the EQ and bass boost flt for now. 121 is damn loud for music. If you're wanting to do SPL races though; you bought the wrong woofers.

 

I got the crossover at 80. The gain is set to factory specs per JL. I had to unplug all the speakers and measure the output voltage of each amp at 3/4 volume with a 50hz and 1khz tone and cross reference it with a chart they have on the website. I set the amp boost with a narrow Q for a small boost at 45hz to even out what I lose in lows from having a smaller box. I did add just under a lb of poly fill to each sub enclosure also. I'm loving it now!

 

If anyone wanted to see. Here's the IDQ12's behind the seat. They look close as hell but it's the angle. And they don't have a crazy excursion so... I can actually put my finger under the seat and feel how close they come to the seat without hitting it.

I have a sharp drop off from 40-20 hz due to box space. I am supposed to be able to use .55-1.1 cubic feet but the smaller the box, the less low end extension and the tighter the bass. Polyfill smoothes the bass and adds extension at the expense of output and crispness. My drop off is still not as much as a box tuned just under 40hz so I am happy. Considering removing a lil polyfill though. Not much real music other than rap bass tones under 40hz.

I am also going to have to move my seats... didnt think I would need to but with the Line X I added to the box that section of the passenger side seat back where the vertical bar for the head rest and the crpss bar are welded and there is the padding on top is contacting my box and not allowing it to close by like .25"
