What’s the best dealer in the Denver area?

I just went to have my ToyotaCare service done. I am very religious about keeping up on my maintenance.

I have about 70k miles. I went in today for the standard service and the service guy comes out, greets me and says I’ll get the usual oil change, tire rotation, inspection, etc. no big deal, right? I showed him the wheel lock key was in the console and then asked a question that appeared to give the guy a hard reset.

I told him that I was very OCD and asked if he could ask the tech that should the center caps fall out during the rotation, if they could orient them in a certain way. I showed him how they already were and said all they have to do is make sure it’s rotated correctly.

He told me to hold on, left and then came back and advised me that tire rotations weren’t covered under my specific ToyotaCare package. I thought that was weird but turned over the keys and proceeded to wait the 1.5 hours it took them to do a 15 minute oil change.

During my wait, looked up ToyotaCare online and saw that tire rotations were covered. When my truck was done, I went to the dudes desk. As I waited for him to print up the invoice, I saw one of those tabletop standup cards advertising ToyotaCare. On both packages, they both included tire rotations. I asked him again if tire rotations were covered. He said no, I have the “classic” package which does not cover tire rotations.
I picked up the card and showed it to him saying, “that’s funny because according to your own card here it does.” He stumbled a bit and said bc I bought it from a different dealer, they sold me a different package. To which I pointed out why would their dealership accept another dealers in-house package if that were true. Plus I have never had a problem with it until now.

he continued to say it wasn’t covered.

I left and called the previous dealer who said he was on crack and it was the standard ToyotaCare package. I called ToyotaUSA customer service who apologized for him and said that tire rotations were indeed covered.

Not that tire rotations are a big thing, but these bastards want to skate out of something as simple as a tire rotation, what other shortcuts are they taking?

simply out I don’t ever wanna go back.

Sorry. This is why I do almost all of my own work. Last night I was laying on the 29 degree concrete on a sheet of cardboard draining my diffs and transfer case…

Cool. I spent many years as a mechanic. I’d rather pay people to do it for me.

This is a simple case of charging for a service and then not performing said service.

I used an MSR white gas stove for years for my backpacking load out until I got caught in a bad August storm and couldn't light the stove inside the tent vestibule without setting myself on fire. I had hypothermia because of it and barely made it back out.

I switched to a SOTO propane stove and haven't looked back but I still have the pocket rocket and fuel for it on hand. The SOTO out performs a jet boil at high altitude and on winter trips because it keeps the can pressurized as you go through fuel. It does need wind shelter if there's too much wind but I found that true of all stoves to some degree.

OK. I have seen those (and had one in the family as a kid) just didn’t realize that was what the fuel was called. I can deal with propane for cooking, especially knowing they make panties for them now, but it’s propane fires that suck more than they should.
Im glad your pocket rocket warmed you up.

I didn't have any issues with Mountain States Toyota off I25 and US36 in my one and only time taking a vehicle in for service. I took the valve stem caps off the front wheels to see if they'd rotate the tires and when they gave the truck back to me, all tires had caps on them so I have no idea if they rotated them or not. I'm assuming so since they noticed two of the tires were missing caps lol.

I love my powerhouse stove. Works better than propane stoves when it's cold out.

If you were going to take a week off in two weeks, where would you go within 6-8 hrs of Denver (excluding snowboarding/skiing)?
It's my wife and I and 2 teenagers.
Just trying to go somewhere new and figured someone might have a good idea.

Do any of you have 2-3 FRS radios that I can borrow for a week (next week, White Rim Trail)?

I haven't had time to get my HAM license and its even harder to convince ALL my friends to get one, so I won't be able to legally operate the Baofeng set I have. Let's not divert into the "just use it anyway" discussions, as that's not the point.
Side note: I just realized this morning that GMRS requires a $70/10-year license!

You could quickly set your baofengs to low power and one FRS frequency and lock them so no channel switching could be done. While not type accepted your output numbers would not warrant any thoughts from anyone who might be of concern. Honestly, FRS has gone the way of CB where the FCC doesn't even look into active enforcement. Like CB only those that purposefully jam/clog the band with high power and intentional harm are pursued. Case in point, look at Rugged Radios marketing/target

Yeah, I don't have a windows machine and last time I tried to program my Baofeng, I couldn't get the drivers to work on Mac, so I moved on from programming it FRS/GMRS frequencies.

If I had a burner windows laptop, I'd give it a try on that to see if the malware drivers that are out there would work.
