    ummm .....ya.
I know a ton of guys who bought cabooses off the Railroad when they phased them out in the early 90s. I could have got one for 500 bucks which included everything but the trucks (wheels) oil furnace and diesel generator to boot. Ya just had to get a flat bed to Toronto Yard and you could have one.
Great for hunting/fishing camps. Hell they even came with dishes and cutlery!

I definatly hear what your saying. Just remember there are alot of people (including me) that would love to be stuck where you are.
Hell, you live in North Bay man.
I would not doubt that 10 to 20 years from now you place might be worth 4X.
Thank you for sharing though, it's interesting to see whats happening to the market up north.

If you don't go with the container idea the places with the garage/shop at ground level and the apartment above are pretty neat too.

The recall was almost a decade ago ;) US DOT filing: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2012/RCDNN-12V092-8345.pdf

You can plug your VIN into this page to see if your truck is affected: https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/owners/recalls

A broken wire in the clock spring can cause the airbag light to be on. It could also be another bad component in the system (corroded/swollen impact sensor on the radiator support, chewed wiring, burnt SRS ECU, etc.). Only way to know for certain is to hook up a good OBD2 scanner that can read Toyota-specific codes from the SRS ECU.

If other functions that go through the clockspring have also failed (horn, cruise control), then it's most likely the clockspring that's bad.

If people are telling you that they're likely from the city. You'll need new country friends!

Me too! It was literally a rolling bunkhouse...heat hydro interior water tank..a shitter with a holding tank and like I said oil stoves and a diesel generator..tea pot coffee pot...man those were the days.
Then I opened my big mouth and said I wanted to be an engineer...whoops.

We have a 2013 Toyota tundra at work.

It is a commercial vehicle and therefore requires an annual safety check.

Two months ago on the safety check it was discovered that the horn did not work.
It required that the clock spring be replaced and it cost $700 to complete the repair… Ouch!

    It was damaged from mice.

The 2nd gen Tacoma clockspring part cost is $475 at the dealer but $25 on eBay, just depends on how often you want to replace it. Labor is fairly quick - took me about half an hour to remove & reinstall when I modified one for a JDM steering wheel in my last truck. Although it's unusual for the clockspring to be damaged by mice. Mice can chew on wires under the dash, but typically don't get into the clockspring.

If you know it's what you want, no use delaying it.

At this rate you'll have a new homebase by the late summer

I've seen a couple of that guys videos. He gets lots of views and on some pretty mundane stuff. Probably makes enough off of YouTube to pay for his container castle.
