    Truck: 2016 Tacoma limited 4wd

History: I haven't driven it for around a month. went to drive it the other day and it had bad misfiring. I had to turn around. The only thing I can think of since then was that we've had a decent amount of rain in norcal and I have a hole in the right rear taillight, i noticed the taillight was full of water covering the reverse light bulb. drilled a hole at the bottom and it's drained now.

Anyway, pulled codes and main issues are random misfire, cyl 3 misfire, cyl 5 misfire, and a few more codes that could be related or not relevant. I'd be surprised if it's as simple as 2 spark plugs failing at the same time. I'm thinking worst case is it's electrical due to the taillight. Could also be squirrel damage since we've had them recently. Just looking for some advice before i start busting things open. Any help appreciated

Rodents I bet. Pop your hood and check wires and connectors carefully. lift up the plastic engine cover, It usually tells the story. It should have insulation under it that rodents seem to like..

you guys are some wizards. i found one yellow wire cut all the way through. some damage on one of the wires next to it. (this is the wire harness underneath the brake fluid reservoir). i stripped and reconnected and i'm resetting the battery to see if it'll fix. I'll also check under the plastic covers tomorrow like someone else mentioned

Rodent damage is sometimes covered under insurance depending on your situation-FYI If you find any more substantial damage.

There's a product I purchased at a Tractor Supply Company called Fresh Cab and it's supposed to keep rodents out.
Seems to work, but then I've also bought a jug of Tom Cat rodent repellent. Between the 2 of them knock on wood so far so good.
Main problem here is field mice though not squirrels.

The 5 gallon bucket works great, you can make your own basically free. If you have freezing temps you could add antifreeze to the water.
