I am going to be towing about 3000LBS through the mountains next weekend, I have a 2019 OR auto with 2.0 OV on the updated 04B33 reg fuel, regular gears and stock tires version of software. Is there a better modified version of software in the beginning of this thread that would be helpful for towing through the mountains?

So I have flashed the 04c20 last week and have experienced a couple of weird things. Completely stock for now but here's what I'm experiencing.

    1. the tip in is too aggressive so I need to change that out and will work on it as soon as I get a chance.
    2. in stop and go traffic there's some jumping when I'm pushing the gas pedal just slightly. It's really weird to the point I almost flashed by to stock because of this. When the traffic is moving the truck moves by itself but if the traffic moves a lot and I push the pedal to give it gas it tends to jump forward...
    3. I need to get the fusion app and bluetooth transmitter. The engine doesn't seem to be idling right after driving say 30-40 mins on the highway. I need to make sure it's not pinging or anything but it just doesn't sound ... healthy.
    4. I do like how the transmission isn't hunting when going up a slight incline and this helps a lot. My gas mileage is slightly better. Mind you it's a 2021 and the avg for what I get is around 17.3mpg but it's about 40/60 city/highway mixture. I was hoping to be in the low 20's before the flash but nope and I don't drive with heavy foot... so what the heck?
Thanks for everyone's time and I will definitely send out beer money once this all figured out.

I have read through a bunch of pages of stuff and am getting confused.

Is there much reason to buy the tune pack now? I already have the Tactrix so would just need the software and pick a tune from the first post?

I'm not looking to make it drive like a sports car. Just want to make the transmission pick a gear and stick with it!

If you're happy with using stock tune, or any user made tune, then you will be fine. You also wouldn't have the ability to edit.

I don't know if this ever got answered, but it's Regular gas. Since we've discovered a lot since then, I should probably go back and make an updated version. But that one IS stable, so go at it!

As far as your other comments in the later post (which I just saw, lol), I hadn't changed the throttle settings from what the 3.1 was, but honestly, those were a bit too aggressive for me anyways. I use a bit lighter on my personal tunes for the last few months. I can certainly tone that down.

The other issues you were having haven't been reported by others using it, but it could be that they just don't know what they're looking for to complain!

For all my vehicles I notice everything from the transmission and how it idles and everything. I might have to flash back and see if I notice that same from casual driving.

If you have an updated version with a bit tamer throttle I would be happy to try it out. Is this version what you have been using?

Regarding issues 1 and 2, get Throttle limits S tables values into the spreadsheet.
Make sure t there are no big gaps between gears for the same throttle angle.
Make values for first 3-5 cells for gears 1-2-3 less by 10% up to ~20 angle, keep going down if still not satisfied with the throttle sensitivity. here is an example below. As far a s a rough idling, reset Learning values for the engine and the tranny. The tranny will take about 200 miles to settle, engine wont affect the "driving experience".. When monitoring idle, turn off the AC and defogger. Should be around 560 in D and 600 and change in P.

    Solid advice @Vlady.

Also, I recommend using Excel to fine tune and visualize things as well. The vF charts and graphs are nice, but when tweaking things they don't update until you save, close and then reopen the map. In Excel, you can see changes instantly.

Example: S Throttle data set Vlady shared with me a few weeks ago:

Speaking of graphing things in Excel. vF doesn't provide any visuals for shift points so I've been tinkering with that to see funny business there. It's harder to graph because for each gear the X axis values can be different, so to get all the gears on a common scale takes some tinkering. Below is an example of some shift points I'm running now. I need to think about it more, but seems weird to me where some gears touch/cross over or get close together like 5/6. Wondering if that is a good or bad thing? Still thinking through it.

I drove 4_5 upshift and 5_4 downshift points crossing over and there were no issues... well, I never experienced any issues.
Worse case you will ended up in the shifting up&down loop, like a did a few week ago

Yeah, but you’re not afraid to flash things and just send it.

I sit and stare at graphs thinking about the effects and consequences for 2 weeks... I guess I need more flashing and sending and less graphing and thinking.
