My personal favorite is peeps thinking that just because they turn their blinker on, they have the right to make that turn, regardless of how close to you they are.

They must not know that turning the blinker on just indicates intention to turn... they think it gives them the right to do it.

This happened ten or eleven years ago (2010 or 2011); I still had my learner's permit...

I was driving my mom's 2004 Honda Odyssey, and she was obviously with me since I wasn't allowed to drive by myself yet...

We were on this particularly tedious stretch of Swamp Road in Doylestown, PA; There was this middle-aged blonde woman in a European luxury sedan of some sort (possibly an SUV; The type of vehicle doesn't matter). We were in a rush to get somewhere, and there wasn't enough room to let her in; She didn't give a shit! She pulled forward to indicate that she was cutting in whether I liked it or not; I inched my mom's minivan forward and gave her a "Don't even think about it!" glare. She just gave me an emotionless glare and pulled into the line even further as soon as the vehicle in front of me pulled forward. This continued until my mom made me stop pulling forward out of fear that our vehicles would collide, and just told me to let the ditz in; I very begrudgingly did so...

    :annoyed:

And then there was the time in the summer of 2013 I was at a cruise night at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley, PA; This was more than two years after I'd finally obtained my driver's license, and I was in the Tacoma you see in my avatar pic (though aside from a cheap Pioneer head unit and a matching component speaker system, it was 100% stock; Those were the days - NOT!). Anyway, in the heyday of the famous Shady Brook Cruise Night, they held it every Tuesday from May through September, and unfortunately 2013 was the last year. Every other Tuesday, I had an appointment with my psychologist in the evening. This required me to leave the cruise night early every other Tuesday. I was in line to leave the parking lot, and it was a zoo; I was running late for my appointment, and my only goal was to get out of that parking lot. There was a Subaru Impreza waiting to make a left turn into the exit line, and there were a bunch of other vehicles waiting behind it. I thought of the potential cause and effect - I stop to let the Subaru in, and at least one person behind the Subaru sneaks in behind him, and/or the person behind me rear-ends my truck because they weren't expecting me to stop - I just breezed right past the Subaru and didn't even give it a second thought! I'd all but forgotten about the three or four teenagers in the Subaru until I was at a red light less than half a mile from the farm, waiting to make a left turn, when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw the same Subaru approaching on my right. The three or four guys in the Subaru were giving me dirty looks, and one of the backseat passengers flipped me off...

Seriously? As stated above, a turn signal does not grant you automatic right of way (Hell, they may not have even had their blinker on)!

The same could be said about people taking to the streets in a stick shift vehicle who have little to no experience driving such a vehicle...

We're on a roll today, someone turned in front of me and the car next to me in the other lane figuring the fact that there was a box in the road overrode the fact it was GREEN FOR US. At that point you can hit me and deal with the repercussions of your stupidity.

Actually I have a story...I was 18 and literally driving home the stick bugeye my dad had got me. Stopped at a stop sign with a slight incline back and rolled into the guy behind me bc I panicked :anonymous: you could tell he was pissed until he knew what the situation was and then he was cool, no harm no foul

    Morning all.

Just some thoughts on these stories.
Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere important & is on a time crunch. Even the person in the other car.
No one has time to let 1 other car in. So everyone has learned they have to TAKE the merge, to force their way in.

Would it kill you to let them in? For the most part no - never.
Would it kill you to not let them in? Quite possibly - yes.

A little common courtesy would go a long way. Let the jerk in. Maybe it will rub off & they'll let someone else in later. Maybe not.
    ----
Those people who drive like they are lost; they are.
GPS seems to often tell you to turn too late, or tells you in 1,000 ft. - but nobody knows how far 1,000 feet is.
A dash cam combined w/ GPS would do wonders for clueless sot drivers. Turn right just after that big bush in front of the green house.
Doesn't help that intersections don't have 2 signs anymore in most places.

    ---
and remember - just because your light is green, you still need to 'proceed with caution'.
Someone making a right on red might think they saw your signal blink if the light reflected off the lens just right. Maybe they are in a rush for their Dr's appt. & thought you were traveling slower - like at the speed limit.
Driving has become less stressful to me since I realized people who cut me off - partly my fault, I'm going faster than they expected. (Of course their fault too since they failed to determine my rate of approach - but I contributed so I need to shut up & accept the cost of my actions).
    -----
Those dash-cam videos on youtube are fun. But 95% of them I finish thinking "a little courtesy?" many of the videos where you hear the driver yelling at the other car or blasting their horn - it's because the driver showing the other idiot offered no common courtesy to the other vehicle.

    courtesy.jpg YMMV

If I can let people merge weighing 80000 lbs than anyone can.
I do like when I get to stuff people though on account they have a yield sign and apparently don't know what it means!

It's pretty much everywhere. But when someone does follow the rules I give them a thumbs up or blink my lights to let them know that they did a good job.

This is very true but can only work if common sense is involved...
