Anyone here running Bilstein 6112's? Are you happy with them or wish you went with something different? As much as I'd like Fox 2.5's, I feel they would be overkill for what I need.

I had them for awhile. If your truck isn’t heavy and you don’t off road much or hard. Then they’ll be fine. But after armor and hitting some hard trails. I kept destroying the lower bushings. Which are a pita to change out. In upgraded out of them.

Thanks for the response. I do plan on adding a slim front bumper and possibly skids, but not much more than that. I usually don't wheel hard, but would like to run washboard roads faster than I am without worrying about blowing out my shocks due to heat.

I was considering the 6112/5160 combo before I went with Tough Dogs. I've been very happy with my setup, especially considering what I paid (~$1100)

    I went from stock to...

V1.0: Fox 2.5 IFP coilovers (SL), Fox 2.0 resi rears, 3AAL
    V1.5: Swapped to 14" 650# coils, Icon RXT's (Option 2)
V2.0: Fox 2.5 DSC coilovers (EL), Nitro Gear UCAs, Fox 2.5 DSC rears

Hindsight being what it is, it suggests going to V2.0 out of the gate. In reality, what I'm asking my truck to do and how I've outfitted it has evolved, and so has the suspension. I'd do it the same way again, albeit being more expensive...I enjoy the process and the results.

This is exactly what I'm worried about haha. As I get older I'm a firm believer in buy once cry once.

Downsouth motorsports has a great build your own mid travel kit where you can pick your choice from a few different front coilovers, rear shocks, leafs, and upper control arms. Really if you’re off road at all I’d suggest a solid mid travel at minimum.

What are you all running for skids, aluminum or steel? I'm wanting to jump on the RCI group buy and I guess I finally really need to decide for myself. I don't see myself wheeling hard often if at all, but I do a fair bit of hiking and MTB and getting access to some spots makes me want to add some protection down there. Lots of fire roads, and I don't exactly like to drive slow. Wondering if aluminum will be fine for what I'm looking at doing or if I am going to be kicking myself down the road for not going steel. I just want to keep this truck as lightweight as possible without making unnecessary sacrifices. Already have steel sliders, not replacing bumpers anytime soon aside from maybe a Hybrid front for a winch mount. Running a GFC on the back..

    Thanks.

Exactly! With a SSO slimline and winch. Mobtown skids. Sliders I already needed 650# coils on the 6112s and they went down hill from there.

Friends in Florida that actually wheel went through DownSouth for their Kings. They rave about em.
Between DownSouth and AccuTune you probably can’t go wrong with a King or Fox setup.

I still love my Radlfo though...

I’d say you’d be fine with Aluminum. Just don’t rock crawl or try trails where you will be landing on your skids and you’ll be fine. And TBH. Most ppl I see with GFC stay away from them type of trails anyways.

I bought a set of their steel skids before I upgraded my wheels and tires. I banged on them in several spots, and I wasn’t trying to do anything crazy. My buddy got the aluminum skids, he’s banged them a bit too and they still look great and seem durable. I’d do the aluminum now that I have taller wheels and tires. I was glad I had the steel when I was not as tall, however, seeing them on my buddies truck it does appear the aluminum can take a hit.

Aluminum can take a hit.. but will bend and gouge. Mine are definitely starting to get twisted and bent out of shape in some areas, but I don't regret going aluminum at all. Especially when I had to pull the front skid in the sand to swap the CV this weekend.. Was able to throw it around easily.

Looking for advice - I’m trying to get a freight shipment in that’s gonna require a forklift or a loading gate to receive per the vendor.

The size of wood pallet that it will be shipping on 120” x 32” x 23”. Total weight is approx. 470lbs.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? When I got my sliders I went down to a depot south of downtown to pick it up and someone was able to forklift it into the truck. I can’t remember the name of the freight company...

Is there anywhere local that can accept. Delivery like this and lift it into a truck?

Two things related to the battery I got a questions: What budget battery pack jumpers have you guys used? (preferably sub $75) And is there any way for me to easily monitor my battery voltage while I'm camping that way if I run lights or something from the outlet in back I don't drain the battery to the point truck won't start again. Basically how can I monitor voltage and what's the affordable jumper to save my ass when I inevitably let it go a little too low.

My diamondback came on a pallet today. The driver pulled his 18 wheeler up on the street, and I backed up to him and dropped the tailgate. He had a lift platform that he lowered to the height of my tailgate, then used a pallet jack to move it into the bed of my truck

As a freight tractor-trailer driver, this is the easiest way for both parties. I do this for customers all the time. Just back up to the truck or trailer and have them slide it on.
