I honestly don't care about that either. We all got along fine with zero cell phone coverage 20 years ago, it's a nice to have not a need to have thing.

The Northwest Territory is a Territory, not a province. I specifically said province. Yes there are reserves in Northern Ontario and Quebec that would use Propane, but the cost of delivery is covered Federally. Again, solution over problem.

Territories are not the same as provinces. It would be like comparing the services delivered in your state to those delivered in Puerto Rico. The people who live in the territories know they aren't going to get the level of support that the provinces do, that's why those areas will never be provinces unless they experience some massive population surge.

I don't know about that, if my truck got broadsided by a heavy truck and I managed to survive, I'd like 911 to be an option on a major highway.

I'd consider functional cellular service a basic need for businesses.

I also use my cellphone heavily for work. Agriculture works better with great communications technology available. I remember the days of custom radio bands and VHF radios in every farm vehicle (plus the CB, which didn't have enough range unless your were trying to get laid by some chick in the car ahead). It sucked.

So you have a clear understanding of population density, why did you think Moab would have cell service?

    haha, nevermind

Complete sentences with proper grammar would help your point. Honestly, I have no idea what you just tried to say in relation to what you just double quoted.

Where do I draw the line? I’ll start with the obscene salaries some of these CEOs get and decide to keep.

There wouldn’t be a library in your town if Carnegie thought like that.

Philanthropy used to mean building the services available that the government didn't provide for the common folk. Now, without getting political by going too deep into it, Philanthropy is something else.

You literally just described the exact same situation that we have in the states. When you're far enough from a main town, you're not going to get the same conveniences.

Oh, found what you were probably talking about here. Moab wasn't actually my example. The roads to Moab from the Canadian border was, particularly I15 which had been designated a critical trade route under the old NAFTA policies.

I'm not extrapolating Moab to the rest of the country. Please at least read my post before forming your counter argument.

So your states get about the same level of services, outside of major cities, as our territories and that's acceptable to you?

Canada has a population density of about 3 people. 5 people if you factor just the provinces in. The US can do better. I get you don't want to pay for it, but that's kind of leading down a political path I don't want to go down. No one wants a ban.

You won't eliminate income inequality until you eliminate effort inequality. CEOs get paid that much because they provide management that the average person can't (in most cases, not all). And I grew up in a rural town without a library, or high speed internet.

Montana has 1 million people. It is 147,000 square miles. Or about 8 people per square mile.

I'm talking about just the interstate though. Anywho, we've probably beat this into oblivion. It's okay to disagree on what services should be provided to be considered acceptable.

I don't, but I'm on Telus fiber. Someone on a 4G modem would definitely have a cap though it's usually soft with more data available. Every provider is different. The CRTC doesn't control the bandwidth caps. They only ensure the internet stays a utility and net neutrality is protected within the scope of the law up here. Our biggest struggle is pricing. Some areas it's a little ridiculous because they'll add weird fees. It's a bone of contention in Ontario and there is a court case involving the CRTC over it.

The US has bandwidth caps and throttled ISPs based on internet as an unprotected service, no?

Pretty much every town has high speed. You'd struggle to find a school without it. But if you live 30-50 miles from that, you're going to be stuck with shit internet.

In any case, SpaceX should hopefully make things better. I did hear last week on a LTT video though that the beta packages are region locked. To be clear, it means you can't pack up your dish and try it outside of a limited area you're dish is set to work in. Hopefully that's just a part of the beta test to ensure the equipment is only used in areas where coverage is good enough to provide a fair evaluation.
