    Ha!

Good question ... I have no idea really since I dislike both terms. I think there is a Bimmerworld or something but I only looked at it once and never went back. :)

Honestly, no complaints about the reliability. I am on my fourth and they have been incredibly reliable cars ... was a Subaru driver before that and I have to say the BMW has been way more reliable. No problems with my 2020 Tacoma either.

I also own a E46 BMW M3. Has 160k miles on it. Very reliable and was my daily for years. It is just a dream to drive!
I no longer daily drive it because it is my forever car and I am afraid of getting hit by some teen texting while driving.

Got the Tacoma because it just makes sense to have one compared to anything else out there right now. High resale value, reliable, killer looks and a great community of owners.

Beemer references BMW motorcycles and comes from years past when they dominated motorcycle racing. It is specific to the motorcycles, but over the course of time, and with motorcycle racing being much less popular in NA vs. Overseas, people started using it for their cars. It’s typically a NA thing.

Bimmer is specific to the cars.

I came to a Tacoma because of a change in lifestyle (no longer in the city) and I want to be able to haul my toys around [trailer not an option]. I also wanted a ‘small’ manual truck. Toyota is the only manufacturer still offering that. So I got me an OR AC MT.
Otherwise I’d still be rocking a small high power German coupe. No one does those better than the Germans.
Next goal is a 997 911 Turbo to go along side the Tacoma.

hi Julia, I have an M235 coupe, acceleration and cornering unmatched.......and so far, reliable. It’s my 3rd BMW coupe and probably my last.....(waiting for Lexus to build a coupe that performs as good as it looks)......... having a BMW without warranty backup, is like a trapeze act without a net. the Germans over engineered everything, and it costs money.
I love my Tacoma, got it for daily driving and my commute between Houston and Dallas, too many miles for a BMW.

interesting that with a Racing program, Toyota decided to have BMW build their latest Supra (it’s really a Z4).....they have a waiting list for them.

Supras are easy to find where I live (AL). Took my wife's '18 Taco in for the fuel pump recall, a couple weeks back, and they had a black one sitting in the showroom....better looking car in person than in pics. I think not having a manual option has held them back but from everything I read, the engine is a gem. WAY under-rated from the factory as I've seen dyno tests where the car had more HP/TQ at the wheels than advertised at the crank.

OP, glad to see the outcome. Great looking truck!
Supras haven't really received the typical Toyota marks for reliability, either, so I guess they decided to just continue the trend?

Wait, what? You didn't change the oil because it was a lease? Did the engine blow? I hope this is a joke....

Yes, I did not change the oil in my Tacoma and traded it in with 41K miles. It’s not my truck anymore, why should I care...

Wifey had an '04 325xi. Really nice ride, but I put more front half shafts in that thing than I can remember. Wicked money pit!

Ah ok! Don't know much about BMW, so I appreciate you clarifying it for me.

    UPDATE ON DATE PM:
Sorry guys been slammed at the farm. I have 4 boxes going out today and 3 more on Monday. So all the PM, TW family should get the dates next week.

    TRUCK UPDATE:
Just hit 900 miles. Loving the thing. Filthy as can be (as expected). The OEM Tailgate lock came in today. Will attempt to install next few weeks.

I'm happy for you, Julia. It was a long road, but I'm glad things turned out OK.

If you don't think farming is hard work, you never farmed. Unless you farm pine trees. Then you just cash checks every few years.:oldglory:
